Summer Watch: SWFL Under The Radar 2027's, Second Five

Summer is in full swing and tournaments are being held each and every weekend, from independent programs to circuit teams, games and opportunities are at a high this time of year. Let's take a closer look at some of the rising seniors from SWFL who will be lacing them up this summer in hopes of improving their game and seeing their stock rise heading into their final high school season.      An excellent 2-way player, Payton, effects the game in a number of ways both offensively and defensively. He is a tough, gritty defender who has a knack for forcing steals and turning defense into offense, and he also rebounds the ball very well from the guard position. Payton is efficient attacking the paint, where he can finish through contact, or dump it off to a teammate for an open look. He plays with good energy and has a solid stroke from the outside.     Cadavos has an excellent basketball IQ and just plays the game right. The lefty PG handles the ball very well, and has tremendous court vision where he's always looking to get his teammates involved. He has no fear when attacking the basket, and also shoots it from behind the arc at a very high rate. Cadavos plays the game with great composure, and is a clutch player who isn't afraid to take the big shot.     A strong, physical guard, Rees, continues to improve each time I see him play. He looks to utilize his strength, where he likes to attack the basket, and has the ability to finish through contact. He is smart player who is willing to do all the little things, and just wants to win. His size and athleticism allow him to guard multiple positions on defense, and he also rebounds the ball well on both ends of the floor. Look for Rees to have a big senior year with an expanded workload in 2026-27.     Millian is a quick and shifty guard who put together a solid season for the Tigers, and has started out this summer by turning some heads with his strong play. The 5'8" PG handles the ball very well, and is in excellent passer who is always looking to get his teammates involved. He has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble, and is also efficient from behind the arc. MIllian has both quick feet and quick hands, and likes to pressure his opponents and look for steals.     The sharpshooter from ECS, St. John, has unlimited range and is an excellent 3-point shooter. The 5'9" SG handles the ball well, and has tremendous court vision. He has the ability to create his own shot, but is also an excellent catch and shoot type player who moves very well without the ball. He's off to a hot start this travel season, and should see that continue through the summer and right into his senior season.
