I spent this past weekend at the Phhacility for the Bash in the Desert, scouting a deep pool of talent from both the EYBL and local AAU circuits. The level of competition was elite across the board. To give every standout player the coverage they deserve, I've broken my recaps into three parts: a two-part deep dive into the EYBL prospects and a dedicated feature on the standout performers from the independent and local programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2257790' first='Nicholas' last='Topolosek'] Liberty (AZ Storm) (Pictured):

The sharpshooter delivered a standout performance this weekend. He possesses a true "jump" shot that often forces defenders into late contests, resulting in numerous fouls and four-point play opportunities. When defenders run him off the line, he effectively drives downhill and uses his verticality to finish. Additionally, he is a vision-oriented passer who consistently finds open teammates. Following his crucial role in Liberty's 6A championship run this year, he is poised to remain a dominant force throughout his high school career.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407206' first='Cameron' last='Hurt'] Pinnacle ([program_tooltip program_id='2076648' first='Peak' last='Basketball']):

Hurt is a high-IQ floor general who delivered a standout performance this weekend. He demonstrated excellent poise, consistently reaching his spots on the floor and finishing with efficiency. Beyond his scoring, his relentless motor and leadership were evident throughout the tournament, as he played with high intensity and kept his team competitive in several tough matchups. He possesses a great feel for the game and knows exactly how to manipulate defenses to create high-quality looks for himself and his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1720212' first='Ladell' last='White Jr'] Phoenix Prep Ali ([program_tooltip program_id='2076648' first='Peak' last='Basketball']):

The strong PG was impressive throughout the entire weekend. He was hitting tough shots, and he also got out in transition and threw it down on the break. He always plays well on defense, guarding the opponent's toughest guard. His physical nature allows him to consistently play through contact, and his aggressive defense frequently sets the tone for his team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2550840' first='Austin' last='Turner'] Perry ([program_tooltip program_id='2265774' first='UH' last='Elite 3 Stripe']):

This long athletic wing showcased all aspects of his game. He is very good on the defensive end, has some very impressive blocks, and uses his wingspan to get steals. On offense, he attacked the cup hard, which often put him at the foul line. He was able to hit catch-and-shoot 3s well, put it on the floor, and hit pull-up jumpers. His stock will rise over the summer. Furthermore, he possesses the versatility to facilitate the offense when necessary, showcasing vision that is rare for his position.

[player_tooltip player_id='2854671' first='Jonathan' last='Ortiz'] Deer Valley ([program_tooltip program_id='2076648' first='Peak' last='Basketball']):

The hard-nosed PG had a great game against another UA Rise team. He was knocking down threes off the catch and the dribble. He also got into passing lanes leading to transition buckets. He finished proficiently around the rim and kicked out to others. He is someone who will look to break out on the UA Rise circuit this summer. His high-level motor allows him to sustain defensive pressure for full games without dropping off. This blend of shot-making and grit makes him a vital piece for Peak 15U moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='2506549' first='Sebastian' last='Ondoua'] St. Mary's (AZ Legacy 3SGB):

Sebastian was very impressive playing up in the 16U division. He can score with ease and did so in all manners. He had 28 points, leading his team to a win against a tough opponent. He had crafty finishes around the rim with a ton of tough moves. His poise and scoring versatility make him a standout prospect to watch. He is very talented and will continue to strive at whatever he plays.
