RecruitLook Kansas City was packed with teams and players looking to make names for themselves, and the New Mexico talent once again proved it can compete on the national stage. Every time these players travel out of state, they continue to showcase the skill, toughness, and basketball IQ New Mexico basketball has to offer. Scoring, rebounding, defense, and high-level play were all on display this past weekend.    [player_tooltip player_id='2217079' first='Charlie' last='Wills'] tallied a double-double and finished as one of Day Two's top shooters. He posted 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 steals in one game, showing he will do whatever it takes to help his team win. Charlie is an efficient shooter who is always looking for the right shot and is never afraid to make the extra pass for a better look.   Throughout the travel season, Charlie has shown that despite his size, he is a strong rebounder who consistently uses effort and positioning to secure boards. Defensively, he is very disciplined, always forcing his man toward the help-side defense while using active hands to create on-ball steals. In the passing lanes, Charlie uses his high basketball IQ to anticipate plays, generate turnovers, and push the ball up the court for easy transition baskets.     [player_tooltip player_id='2216708' first='Michael' last='Marr'] continues to see his stock rise this travel season thanks to his ability to score in bunches and impact the game in multiple ways. After being named one of RecruitLook's Day One Stock Risers, Michael once again showed why he is gaining attention. His high energy, explosive first step, and ability to create offense make him a constant problem for opposing defenses.   What makes Michael so dangerous is that he is evolving into much more than just a scorer. He has developed into an all-around guard who consistently makes winning plays and elevates the players around him. Whether he is knocking down shots from deep, attacking the basket, or creating opportunities for teammates, Michael plays with confidence and pace that are difficult to contain.   Throughout the travel season, Michael has continued to prove that New Mexico talent deserves to be recognized on the national stage. Once defenses begin focusing on stopping him as a scorer, he does an excellent job of getting others involved and keeping the offense flowing. Performances like the one he had this past weekend are a big reason his name continues to gain momentum.     Kenneth Zamora put his scoring ability on full display this weekend, knocking down shots from all three levels and finishing the event averaging 20 points per game. Kenneth is a versatile scorer who can create his own shot off the dribble or come off screens ready to rise and shoot.   One of the biggest challenges for defenders is his constant movement. Kenneth stays active offensively, forcing whoever is guarding him to continuously work throughout each possession. He also showcased his ability to get downhill and attack the basket on multiple occasions this weekend, making it nearly impossible for defenses to key in on one aspect of his game.   Defenders found themselves in a difficult position all weekend long. Play too close and Kenneth blows by you, play too far back and he is comfortable pulling up and knocking down jump shots. As the travel season continues, Kenneth is showing growing confidence in his game and a strong understanding of how to take what the defense gives him.     Christopher Maddox Johnson was recognized by RecruitLook this weekend for his scoring ability, and he backed it up every time he stepped on the court. Christopher plays with an aggressive offensive mindset, constantly looking to put pressure on the defense by knocking down shots from deep and attacking downhill.   What makes him difficult to guard is the pace and physicality he plays with. He does not shy away from contact when driving to the basket and uses change of speed effectively to keep defenders off balance. Every possession is played with energy and intensity, making him an all-gas, no-brakes type of player from start to finish.   As the travel season has progressed, Christopher has also shown noticeable growth in his overall basketball IQ and understanding of the game. While scoring is still his first instinct, he has become much better at using paint touches to collapse the defense and create open looks for his teammates. He understands when to attack, when to draw help defenders, and when to make the extra pass.   Christopher's ability to score, compete, and continuously pressure the defense makes him a player who can impact the game in multiple ways every time he takes the floor.     Ethan Oetzel's hard work on his conditioning and shooting continues to show throughout the travel season, and this weekend was another strong example of his growth. In one game, Ethan finished with 21 points while making a major impact on the boards, grabbing rebounds on both ends of the floor.   Offensively, Ethan showed off his soft shooting touch from deep, consistently knocking down shots from beyond the arc. His length gives him a huge advantage around the basket, allowing him to rebound over defenders and create extra possessions for his team.   Defensively, Ethan continues to prove he can be a difference-maker as well. He has used his length effectively all season to block shots, disrupt passing lanes, and come away with steals. Combined with his effort and basketball IQ, Ethan is showing he is a true two-way player capable of impacting the game in multiple ways to help his team win.
