PH Stomping Grounds: Saturday Studs 15U

First full day of games brought out the best in alot of players and from alot of teams and below we will take a look at several who stood out for a variety of different reasons.    This kid was fun to watch! Thomas showed impressive post skills with great footwork and nice touch around the basket. He showed the ability to score with both hands and in traffic with up and under moves and a nice fade away. Hard to move off his spot once he established position and when he got his post touches you could pretty much count it. Aggressive rebounder on both ends of the floor. Showed some ball skills starting the fast break leading to points.     Had a nice stroke from three going most of the day, when he got a catch and shoot from deep it was 💰! Quick guard that showed and explosive first step and got to the rim often. Did a nice job of creating open shots for teammates off drive and kick. Picked up man2man defensively full court and was a pest all day defensively.     Xavier is playing up a level for the venoms team and fits in nicely. Active player on both ends of the floor but where he realy shines is on offense. Hes got smooth handles with a nice crossover to get by defenders and the ability to finish with either hand. Strong build for his age and aggressive nature defensively, just a nice all-round player who has alot of confidence and a short memory.     Devin showed a diverse all around game, definitely looks longer then his listed 5'10 as he had more then a handful of deflections and steals. He had timely big baskets throughout the day and few key blocks also. Moved his feet very well when he was matchup up on smaller guards, also showed high IQ understanding when to use his length and just contest shots rather then crowd the ball handler and get beat off the bounce. Shot the ball well/rebounded tough and showed some grit getting on the floor for hustle plays!     Phillips was impressive all day, has a smooth lefty shooting stroke and is deadly off the catch n shoot with a lightning quick release. Better then average handles and made it look easy at times on the offensive end of the floor. Showed nice court vision and willingness to make the extra pass even though he was on a heater. Quick first step lead to easy drive and kick passes or layups for himself.     Quick guard with sweet handles along with a killer crossover that left defenders helpless. Nice consistent shooter didn't see him shoot poorly all day. Kyson was very solid on defense and showed good anticipation beating his man to the spot on a consistent basis. Transition is where he shines though as hes a player thats quicker with the ball and made alot of good decisions either scoring himself or finding open teammates.     Big man had big skills and was impressive with his "bag" on the offensive end scoring in the post, 15ft jumpers and on O Board putbacks also with both hands. Powerful low post defender very hard to move and post up against. Showed better feet then expected on defense. Nice passing skills and court vision in the half court finding cutters and shooters.     This kid understands how to play off of two feet, not big at all but outstanding footwork got him a ton of buckets in the paint vs bigger guys. Able to finish wt the hoop with bith hands and through contact. Realy quick guard with pretty advanced handles especially whole being guarded tightly, had great change of pace. Aggressive mindset both offensively and defensively and pkays with a alot of confidence.
