Great Lakes Finals: Teddy's 17u Wing Evals

Here's a list of evaluations I took of a few 17u wings to monitor in Illinois from this weekend. Stay tuned later today for my forward/big evaluations as well as much more from a jam-packed weekend! Lengthy prospect who showed a wide range of skills Friday evening. Offensively, i saw a mixture of him stretching out the floor and finishing from inside. But I was probably most impressed with his rebounding potential on both ends of the floor. Knocked in a key second-chance buckets to make the game close in the first half. A productive wing for M14 and Plainfield North. The most effective part of his game was likely his slashing abilities as he found his way inside quite a bit. He was most effective in the second half of that game and that was when the lead pushed to double-digits. He also showed excellent hustle in the matchup I covered. Will be a name I might want to watch again this summer. Searcy's a 6'3" 3-and-d kind of wing. He was highly effective from outside the arc against [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] Saturday morning with three straight triples at one point to keep them in the contest. As a defender, sticks with his man and can close players out effectively from outside, while even forcing misses off drives. Showing good all-around footwork. He might grow a bit more which makes me see him as a wing at the next level. He's a full package prospect that I think can develop quite a bit more. This 6'8" forward does a great job boxing out and isn't afraid to stretch out on the perimeter. Leading to a pair of crucial C&S jumpers in a tight matchup vs Lockdown. If he becomes quicker and works more on his shooting, he could be a very productive small forward at the next level. I think he's also got much to gain in terms of physicality, too. 6'5" [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] wing showcased an explosive first-step to the basket in the 17u semifinal. Powering home a dunk. Had some solid moments as a defender to cut off the driving lane on the baseline. Doing a great job defensively at sliding his feet in this game. Even putting up a strong battle on the boards against the bigs on full package. The next thing he needs to do is develop his shooting, which will surely boost his stock as a highly productive wing at the next level.
