The Great Lakes Finals kicked off Friday night with high-level energy, bringing together some of the region's top independent circuit programs. With college coaches and scouts watching, several prospects set the tone for the weekend with dominant opening-night performances.

Nick Brzezniak | 6'7" Forward | MW Renegades 2027

Brzezniak was a major catalyst in stretching out the lead for the Renegades on Friday night. At 6-foot-7, he offers a highly intriguing blend of mobility and size. He proved he can stretch the floor by knocking down two critical triples, but he didn't rely solely on his perimeter game. Brzezniak was a force on the glass, playing with a high level of physical toughness in the paint. What makes him even more dangerous is his ability to secure the defensive rebound and personally push the break, showing flashes of excellent transition playmaking for a player his size.

Troy Garrett | 6'4" Wing | MW Renegades 2027

Garrett put together a highly efficient, rock-solid first half to help propel his team. Standing at 6-foot-4, the versatile wing showed off a high basketball IQ by constantly moving without the ball and finding the soft spots in the opposing zone defense for easy buckets. He coupled his off-ball IQ with a smooth stroke, hitting multiple shots from behind the perimeter. Garrett is the type of steady, high-floor player who rarely makes mistakes or hurts you while he's on the floor.

Kevin Blye | 6'9" Post | Queen City Pro Prophets 2027 (Aiken HS, OH)

Blye commands attention the second he steps on the court due to his length, and he put together a highly impressive second-half performance on Friday. While he possesses a thin frame, he is incredibly mobile and quick off his feet at 6-foot-9. Blye's standout trait was his elite second jump on the offensive glass, generating multiple extra possessions for Queen City. Beyond his rim-running and rebounding, he showed confidence as a face-up big, proving he isn't afraid to put the ball on the deck and make plays from the high post.

[player_tooltip player_id='2455377' first='Uriah' last='Davis'] | 6'1" Guard | MW Renegades 2027

Every good team needs a continuous engine, and that's exactly what Davis provided for the Renegades. The 6-foot-1 guard completely controlled the tempo of the game on Friday night. He played with great poise, consistently playing off two feet in the lane and keeping his eyes up to find slashing cutters. When the defense sat back, Davis showcased a deep bag of finesse finishes around the rim to score against a fully set half-court defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2865121' first='Damian' last='Forgwe'] | 6'1" Guard | [program_tooltip program_id='2075622' first='M14' last='Hoops'] 2029

Forgwe put on a absolute clinic in the first half of his Friday night matchup, exploding for 14 quick points. At 6-foot-1, he got downhill at will using hard, straight-line drives to get into the heart of the defense. He was relentless finishing through traffic in the lane, drawing several whistles and converting through contact. Beyond his scoring, Forgwe proved to be a reliable primary ball-handler who calmly absorbed and dissected heavy defensive pressure. He is an early name to watch in the 2029 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='3427367' first='Jacob' last='Hyde'] | 6'0" Guard | [program_tooltip program_id='2075622' first='M14' last='Hoops'] 2029

Hyde is the definition of a "microwave" guard—someone who can heat up instantly and change the entire complexion of a game. He got going early on Friday night, draining a pair of deep threes before leaking out for a handful of easy transition layups. When Hyde's jumper is falling like it was on opening night, it opens up everything else for [program_tooltip program_id='2075622' first='M14' last='Hoops']. His instant offense paved the way for an easy, blowout victory to start the weekend.

The Great Lakes Finals kicked off Friday night with high-level energy, bringing together some of the region's top independent circuit programs. With college coaches and scouts watching, several prospects set the tone for the weekend with dominant opening-night performances.
