The Great Lakes Finals produced a plethora of outstanding Michigan performances in the second day of action. Following are five that caught my eye.

[player_tooltip player_id='2454031' first='Zameir' last='Clayton'] 6-1 2028 Benton Harbor (pictured) The Southwest Michigan guard saved his best for… second? Doesn't roll off the tongue but it sums up his day. Got off to quick start bright and early during the first game of the Saturday session. However faded down the stretch in the opening loss. Still put up 28 points. There was no fade in Harbor Impact's second contest. Clayton had it all working in an emphatic victory over the Chicago Cannons. Has excellent positional size for a point guard. Still quite slender but plays with a wiry strength. Also has long arms that help him play taller than his listed height, Gets wherever he wants on the perimeter with an efficient ball handling skill set. Good shooter in the mid range with the size to rise over most defenders. Explosive athlete who excels in transition. Had a late dunk in the victory that simply looked very easy. Put up an eye opening 38 points in the victory. Impressive as it never really seemed like he was looking for his own shot. Part of a deep talented Benton Harbor backcourt that should lead the Tigers to a big year.

[player_tooltip player_id='3642648' first='Kyle' last='Hunter'] 6-4 2028 Detroit Voyaguer Prep Where Clayton's games is based on length and vertical burst. Hunter's games was simple and a tad more basic. A healthy dose of power, power, and let's see… more power. The “built like a tank” cliche might be selling tanks short. You should be getting the picture here. Hunter was a punishing and emphatic penetrator. Beyond the brute force, showed a quick first step and sudden acceleration that got him to the rim quickly. Finished with both hands from unique angles that avoided bigger defenders. Balanced playmaking and scoring opportunities well. Good shooter from beyond the arc. Hit a clutch corner three late in his team's second contest of the day. Hunter continued to make a case for inclusion near the top of Michigan's 2028 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='3649429' first='Codey' last='Bush'] 6-3 2029 Romulus Summit Academy North Another weekend, another nationally ranked player from Michigan's 2029 class. It's been the story of the spring period. With a deep Summit squad played mostly off the ball when I saw him last year. The numbers and results don't lie. Bush is clearly wired to score. On Saturday slid into more of point/lead guard role with Ohio's Adidas squad Phenom United. The passing and court vision were elite. I don't use that word lightly. Had a handful of dimes that belonged on a mix tape. Very good live dribble passer with both hands. Has the size the see the court well. Always seemed to know where his teammates were. Showed the athleticism with a nice dunk in transition. Really has the full backcourt package already, and yet still has room to grow.

[player_tooltip player_id='2871539' first='Zack' last='Pearson'] 6-3 2027 Fenton The Flint area guard had an excellent day with Inspire U. Showed his bounce with a nice dunk to start the day. However the rest day was more about an old school offensive skill set. I was very impressed with how well he moved off the ball. Relocated well and knew how to get open. I was more taken though with his ability to find seams and cut hard to get easy baskets. Often off of backdoor cuts. Was effective at the rim with quick elevation. Good frame and finished through contact often. Intense competitor who helped his squad get off to very quick starts in both games. Put up 25 points in the closing loss of the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2404840' first='Logan' last='Morrish'] 6-5 Hartland With Inspire U down their usual post. Morrish showed his positional versatility by moving his game closer to the block. His statistical impact might have suffered, but the impact did not. Was still able to initiate offense out of the high post with his advanced passing. Hit Pearson (see above) for some of the previously mentioned back door cuts. While the points might not have been there. I thought his outside shot looked much improved. Smooth release with no hitch and very little wind up. Competed hard on the glass collecting a bunch of boards. Put up double figure points in both contests on the day.
