GASO Madness: 2027 Class Weekend Warriors Leading the Charge

2027 was one of the top classes to watch at GASO Madness this weekend in Duncanville. Many soon-to-be seniors stepped up and led their teams to some key wins in circuit/bracket play and some real eye-catchers popped out to this event! Here, we can further examine the skillsets of some of the top players from GASO last weekend who made their way onto my radar and captured my attention.    Price was an all-around prospect for [program_tooltip program_id='2371255' first='AB' last='Elite'] National in their win on Saturday afternoon. He grabbed rebounds, made shots from all three levels, and was a main guard when it came to playmaking and beating the full court press. Terrance showcases calm and poise in pressure situations during the game and displayed a versatile skillset that allows him to beat matchups in isolation, make crisp passes, and play passing lanes on defense. One of the leaders who will be looked to at Duncanville next year, Price has certainly made his way onto my radar for the rest of his high school career.     [player_tooltip player_id='2198640' first='Gavin' last='Green'] showcases pure scoring from all three levels and poised ballhandling under pressure. He can create his looks well off the dribble and functions as a primary ballhandler in the pick and roll scenario. Gavin has great speed in transition and can play either guard slot, ranging from his distributing ability to scoring in clutch situations. He has great hustle for loose balls, and his tenacious perimeter defense causes turnovers and opportunities to convert on fastbreaks.     [player_tooltip player_id='2555072' first='Gabe' last='Childress'] had some clean dime-dropping ability on display in FOE's blowout win over the [player_tooltip player_id='2854586' first='Austin' last=''] Aces. Childress has good footwork in the post and can either score with midrange fadeaways or his back to the basket game over smaller mismatches. He is solid rolling to the basket off the pick and roll and can make smart plays either from the post or the perimeter. He has good energy and hustle and knows how to give 110% on every play. Look for Gabe to be a major stock riser this year for the Barbers Hill Eagles.     Cayden is a pure shooter who is a constant mover and high motor guy without the ball in his hands. He possesses the footwork needed to have an explosive first step and beat defenders out of the triple threat, along with high IQ decision making. He crashes the boards from the weak side well and makes sure to help out on defense when needed. A combo guard who can function as either a ballhandler or finisher, Hinderman-Close makes winning plays and contributes greatly to his team's success.     Maxwell has good shooting mechanics and a smooth form from range as he let it fly several times during Go Get It Select's game against the [program_tooltip program_id='2075520' first='Houston' last='Raptors'] on Sunday. Canyon flies around off ball screens and cuts to the basket when he sees an opening. This frees him up for teammates to get him the ball for open jumpers and smooth layups at the rim. I like his ability to get out in transition and make a significant impact for his team both in the paint and on the outside.
