CBG I-95 Championships: 17U Standouts (Part 1)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The CBG I-95 Series came to an end this past weekend with the Championships, and the atmosphere and competition was off the charts with a ton of the top players in the state in the event. The 6'7” forward played with fantastic energy as he ran the floor and finished above the rim with authority, he showed improvement in his ability to knock down shots and work off the bounce from the perimeter, he showed good touch around the rim, and he was great on the glass and the defensive end too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>MJ Montague | 6'2” CG | Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Gold</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":3625084,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/05/Montague-MJ.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/05/Montague-MJ.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3625084" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Montague has been one of the biggest stock risers throughout the I-95 Series, and he was huge for them down the stretch to win the championship. The 6'2” combo guard did a little bit of everything as he worked off the ball and made shots on the move, he showed his ability to break down defenders and finish at the rim in traffic, he flew around defensively and turned defense into offense, and he was very unselfish making plays for others as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2898030' first='Abram' last='Schrinel'] | 6'6” F | Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Gold</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Schrinel is the glue guy on this team, as he shows up every day ready to be productive however it helps, and he's been super consistent throughout the spring doing that for them. The 6'6” forward was efficient scoring the ball in the midrange and at the rim, he wax great defensively showing toughness and the ability to switch and guard multiple positions, he rebounded the ball well on both ends of the floor, and he showed a lot of grit and physicality on both ends.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3275793' first='Obi' last='Pinn'] | 6'0” PG | Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Gold</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Pinn was huge for them in the championship game, as he shook off a tough first half to go on a huge stretch where he was involved in the game on both ends making winning plays and giving them the push they needed when it was a close game. The 6'0” guard fought for rebounds and loose balls winning 50-50 balls when they really needed it, he got hot and knocked down shots from deep and got to the rim to finish as well, he got to the line and made some big free throws down the stretch, and he made plays for others as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jayden Lacey | 6'4” WF | Virginia Havoc</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":3650999,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/05/Lacey-Jayden.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/05/Lacey-Jayden.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3650999" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lacey is a name for coaches to get to know, as the 6'4” wing from Turner Ashby was very impressive for this Havoc group putting up big numbers with a game that translates well to the next level. The 6'4” wing has good positional size with long arms and a frame that should fill out well, he moved well off the ball and made shots on the move at a high clip and with good range, he got to spots in the midrange and made tough pull-ups, and he showed the ability to guard and play multiple positions as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2471115' first='Isaiya' last='Branch'] | 6'0” PG | Virginia Havoc</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Branch was very impressive in the event this past weekend, and the way he played looks like he'll be one of the top floor generals in the Richmond area this next season. The 6'0” guard did a great job controlling tempo and putting pressure on the defense using ball screens and in isolation, he finished well in the midrange and over bigger defenders at the rim, he saw the floor and made good decisions, and he set the tone as an on ball defender too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
