Though his 5-foot-11 size may be holding programs back from offering, Washpun is the type of player that simply finds a way to fill it up. If opposing team's are running man defense, he'll beat his defender to finish at the rim or drill a step-back in their face on the perimeter. If zone, he'll adjust and his team will find a way to get him open on cuts or beating the defense with swing passes for open threes. One of the state's leaders in assists, Harder finished the year with the second-most amongst the class of 2027, posting a total of 159 and 6.6 per game. He also registered one of the top assist-to-turnover ratios in the state -- especially considering how much the ball was in his hands for th Trojans -- posting a wildly good number of 2.94 assists for every one turnover. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Dominance:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2530471' first='Tate' last='McCollum'] - Solon</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's be honest -- Solon has the makings of being a good team in 3A with a barrage of athletes that also star in football. They were taken to the next level by McCollum. Generously listed as 5-foot-10 on Solon's roster, McCollum's could take over games in spite of his physical disadvantages. His shot-making, ability to draw fouls and get to the line, plus one of the greenest lights possible in the state made him deadly against anyone and everyone. Even after suffering an injury prior to state, his presence on the court alone gave the Spartans a chance against Storm Lake in Des Moines. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ballhandling</strong>:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2419846' first='Nicare' last='Cavil']</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the best lead-guards in the state -- who could fall into the category of confidence, as well, Cavil was one of the primary reasons Johnston upset their way to an appearance in the 4A state championship game this winter. That fact that he never gets sped up, doesn't turn the ball over and plays fearlessly can be rooted in the fact that he has the ball on a string and can manipulate defenses with his ability to move it. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Defense: </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2419850' first='David' last='William'] - Storm Lake</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>William put on a flat-out masterclass defensively for the Tornadoes this season. An athlete that has a chance to play Division I football as a wide receiver, the junior was sensational, more often than not defending opposing team's best perimeter player or lead ball-handler. He effectively used his long arms to keep ball-handlers in front of him or to get into passing lanes, his lateral quickness to do the same and his high motor to keep at it all game long. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
