Walton now has the opportunity to play closer to home.

He announced on social media Tuesday that he had been offered by Eastern New Mexico and Valdosta (Ga.) State. Walton visited the ENMU campus in Portales prior to the Greyhounds extending the offer.

Walton was a key contributor to a Las Cruces Bulldawgs team this past season that finished with an overall record of 25-6, tied for second place in its district and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 5A tournament before falling to eventual champion Volcano Vista.

Walton is currently excelling on the summer AAU circuit. Recently, he showed off his mid-range and long-range shooting ability by scoring 20 points in a summer league game.

His athleticism and high basketball IQ has impressed numerous scouts. One service said Walton's athleticism “really pops on the floor.” Because of his size, he is able to rise over most defenders and shoot the basketball.

This past December, Walton scored 23 points in the Bulldawgs' road win over eventual 5A runner-up Cleveland.
