PH Windy City War: Friday Night's 2027 Superior Guards

Friday night tipped off opening day of the Prep Hoops' Windy City War. I had the privilege of seeing 3 games of teams in the 17U division compete. The first 2 were decided by a possession. In this opening article let's dive into a handful of guards that impacted in their respectable games.    Caught team's first game of action on the weekend. A skilled facilitator that affects the game in multiple ways. Has strong sense of handles to impact as a passer. Will swing it fast on perimeter, look ahead for pitch aheads in transition, or make a post feed to the low block. Shooting wise he tallied for atleast a handful of 3's with a couple mid range jays. A pure stroke whether on the catch or off the dribble. Defensively competes on ball and shows toughness. Liked his overall feel to lead and knack to contribute consistently.     A physical combo guard with strength and toughness. Gets down hill fast and endures physicality of the game. Liked his ability to get in the lane and finish vs more size and length. Has bounce in the paint to convert on runners or floaters through traffic. Can really slash in the lane and then make proper kickouts after drawing +1 defenders. Crashes the boards from guard spot consistently. Hit 4 clutch free throws to seal deal in team's first game of weekend. Natural competitor that plays with pace and purpose.     Put on an efficient scoring performance in team's first game of weekend. Hands and feet are triggered for catch and shoot opportunities on the perimeter. Tallied him for 4 3's total at a high clip and in a confident manner. Attacked closeouts going to the rim more in second half and showed more versatility to draw fouls or finish. Came off a ball screen and knocked down a mid range pull up jumper. A 3 level scorer who will impact as a combo guard.     Caught Schneider last AAU season a couple of times and the combo guard continues to impress. Plays with controlled aggression and creates consistent pressure on defense. Utilizes length to advantage. Has a knack for attacking downhill at a quick rate. Finished through contact for a couple and 1's tonight or will draw fouls while penetrating to get to stripe. Shooting from 3 comes with plus range and confidence. Like his vision after drawing help to make proper spray outs instinctually.     Popped out because of production level in numerous scenarios. Competes in the primary break phase with or without the ball for transition opportunities. Finished effectively at the rim and through traffic. Liked his ability to slash through the lane with purpose for boarding reasons or moving off the ball with energy. A glue guy that can convert at the rim in an efficient way. Ended up with double digits in the scoring department to help team gut out a 1st game victory on the weekend front.
