The next 2028 rankings update is bringing a wave of fresh talent, and several new names are set to make their first appearance. These are the players who have been stacking performances, turning heads, and proving they belong in the conversation. From breakout scorers to rising playmakers and impact defenders, this group has been impossible to ignore. If you want to know who's next up and which prospects are ready to shake up the rankings, this is the list you'll want to see.

Huard is absolutely a name to keep circled moving forward. The multi sport athlete already has multiple football offers, but he proved on the hardwood that his game deserves attention too. At 6'6, he brings terrific size and uses it well with his back to the basket, creating tough matchups for defenders who simply can't handle his strength and feel inside. What really jumps out is how natural he looks competing in space and making winning plays. Defensively his instincts stood out l as he rotated well, anticipated action and made life difficult for opponents. There's clear upside here because he's still developing while balancing multiple sports. When an athlete with this kind of frame, competitiveness and feel continues to sharpen his basketball game, the ceiling gets very interesting. Huard is one to watch closely

Reed flat out knows how to score, and his season made that loud and clear. Averaging 15 points per game with a high of 28, he consistently showed the ability to heat up and take over stretches of games. Multiple 20 point outings proved that big performances were not a fluke and they became part of what he brings every night. His shooting ability is the headliner, with deep range that forces defenders to pick him up well beyond the arc. That kind of gravity changes the floor and opens opportunities for everyone around him. What makes Reed even tougher to guard is the continued growth of his mid range jumper. Defenders can't just run him off the line anymore because he's comfortable rising up inside the arc too. With his confidence, scoring punch and expanding offensive package, Reed is a dangerous name moving forward

Bregard is the kind of player every team needs because he impacts winning in so many ways. While the scoring numbers at 6.9 points per game are solid, they only tell part of the story. His 5.1 assists show how well he creates for others and keeps the offense flowing, always looking to make the right play. He adds 4 rebounds a night by competing hard and doing the little things that help teams win possessions. Defensively the 3.4 steals jump off the page and speak to his instincts, activity and ability to change momentum in a hurry. He's the definition of a do it all guard who fills gaps wherever needed. Players like Bregard may not always lead the headlines, but they often drive success. His versatility, effort and all around production make him a major piece moving forward

Portillo may still be flying under the radar, but that should not last much longer. His game is built to earn attention, and the more people watch, the more they'll understand his value. Averaging 8.9 points per game, he brings reliable scoring with a skill set that translates well at any level. He is a shooter with a quick, confident release that allows him to get shots off before defenders can recover. What really stands out is how well he understands angles, spacing and timing. He works hard to free himself coming off screens, reads defenders well and knows how to create clean looks without needing the ball in his hands for long stretches. That type of movement shooting is a huge weapon. As more eyes get on him, Portillo is a name that should continue gaining real traction

Eugene is the type of player coaches love because he brings nonstop energy and competes hard on every possession. His numbers of 8.6 points, 3 rebounds and 3.9 steals only begin to show the impact he makes. Offensively he is an aggressive attacker who looks to pressure defenses, get downhill and finish at the rim. What makes him even tougher to guard is his ability to suddenly hit the brakes and rise into a pull up jumper, keeping defenders guessing. On the defensive end he plays with a tough nosed mentality, staying attached to his man while also reading the floor well enough to jump passing lanes and force turnovers. His activity level changes games, and his effort is contagious to teammates. Eugene's all around motor, playmaking instincts and competitive edge make him a name that continues to stand out
