[player_tooltip player_id='2839492' first='Pablo' last='Romero'], Springer: Romero seized the headlines over a year ago when he briefly held the state record for most 3-pointers in a single game. He still holds the record for most points in a single quarter (33). He led the Devils in scoring (18.7 ppg) and rebounding (6.1) in 2025-26 when Springer won 19 games and advanced to the Clas 1A playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2887500' first='Aiden' last='Mestas'], Portales: Just like Romero, Mestas received a burst of publicity for a singular event – his half court heave at the buzzer stunned Artesia, 64-63, in early February. But Mestas was a very good player for the Rams all season long, finishing as their second leading scorer (13.6 ppg). Portales returns their top four scorers from this past season when they advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 4A State Tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='2714772' first='Kale' last='Griffiths'], Logan: After consecutive Class 1A title game appearances, Logan will look a whole lot different next season with Griffiths likely leading the way. In fact, he's the Longhorns' top returning scorer. He'll enter next season with 43 varsity games under his belt, giving him the necessary experience to become one of Logan's leaders.

[player_tooltip player_id='2839420' first='Rhett' last='Smith'], Roy/Mosquero: The 6-foot-2 Smith has been playing varsity basketball for the Blue since he was an 8th-grader in 2023-24. His numbers reflect his steady improvement over that span. This past season, he averaged 7.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game to help Roy/Mosquero win 19 games and reach the quarterfinals of the Class 1A playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2714777' first='Nathan' last='Autrey'], Texico: The 6-foot-2 Autrey showed an uncanny ability to make shots as a sophomore, connecting on a team-high 59 percent of his FGA on his way to averaging 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds for the now two-time defending Class 2A champions. If you think the Wolverines are going away, they return four of their top six scorers from this past season in 2026-27.
