Minnesota 16U: Week 1 Records and Review

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>About 15 percent of the 16 and Under teams in Minnesota were playing last weekend. How did they do? Where did they go? We break it down NOW</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Heat/Select Starting Point.</strong> The Hoop Troops 16s played up at the 17s level and went 3-0 with wins by 11, 23 and 40 points. Two of the programs were 58 Hoops 17s teams. The 16s level was won by a team called Phelps (Michael?) and they beat the Knights, Hoop Troop 14s and 58 Hoops to earn the event championship </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ice Breaker.</strong> Sizzle Coleman was the best 16s team in the 16s division but they lost in the championship to the host Wisconsin Playmakers 15s in the title game. Coleman won three games to get to the final four a nice start to their year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Spring Tune Up (Ames).</strong> The Lightning lost a close game to a good Iowa Suns program starting the event before beating AEFS (Nebraska) times two (86-43) and then they beat the All Iowa Attack team in the top bracket by 20+. Lightning Snider in division two was also 2-1.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Chicago Showcase</strong>. Team FSA was in the 5th of seven pools and it was likely fast evident they should have been higher: they won their four games by a combined 107 points. The All In Athletics E level New Balance team (the second division of NB) gave them the closest game at 55-44. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Illinois Clash</strong>. The [program_tooltip program_id='2075496' first='Grassroots' last='Sizzle'] MHC team played some pretty good teams but went 0-4. Lost to Zero Fears Adidas second level team by one, lost Illinois Wolves top team (UAA) by three, and then lost double figure games to a top Adidas division team and to a secondary Nike team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[table id=309 /]</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
