[player_tooltip player_id='2138027' first='Trey' last='Pinkard'] was the second-leading scorer of the game with 11 points. Overall, he had an impressive performance against Cypress Springs High School. Despite the playoff loss, I was genuinely impressed with Trey's overall game. As a lightning-fast guard, he thrives at a fast pace with the ball in his hands, effectively disrupting the Cy Springs defense. By getting his on-ball defenders on his back, he opens up scoring opportunities for his teammates. Trey's passing within the offensive flow created multiple scoring chances for his teammates. Defensively, he was actively involved in passing lanes, demonstrating great anticipation and stealing the ball in a few possessions.

16-6A Defensive Player of the Year: [player_tooltip player_id='2554927' first='Ife' last='Bolaji'], out of Cy Springs High School, is a center that just knows how to make himself a target around the basket for easy layups and dunks. In a few possessions against Grand Oaks, he found holes within the defense to capitalize on his teammates finding him below the basket as a lob threat. He continues to be a strong contributor throughout the UIL Playoffs as he is anchoring the strong defense Cypress Springs High School has overall. I expect Ife to keep the momentum going, playing well on both sides of the court throughout this deep playoff run against Little Elm High School.

Ebube Joseph's stock continues to rise as he maintains a strong high school basketball career at Grand Oaks. Since I first saw him play, the senior forward has consistently made plays at the basket offensively. In the recent game against Cypress Springs, he displayed aggression by taking the ball to the basket, drawing contact on numerous occasions. As a result, he emerged as the leading scorer for Grand Oaks High School, scoring 14 points against Cypress Springs High School.

Zach Dunn made a significant impact on the game, particularly defensively against opposing guards. He relentlessly targeted Grand Oak's guards, trying to make them as uncomfortable as possible and disrupt his offensive play. Offensively, Zach hit multiple crucial shots in the fourth quarter, outmaneuvering defenders and accumulating a substantial number of points. His energy and enthusiasm were evident throughout the game, making him a vital contributor to the team's success. Zach consistently made accurate passes to his teammates, seamlessly integrating into the offensive flow and further enhancing the team's performance.

[player_tooltip player_id='2442231' first='Dariyun' last='Cox'] was a significant contributor to Grand Oaks High School against Cy Springs High School, scoring 12 points. His impact was felt both inside the paint and on the perimeter, as Grand Oaks High School established an early lead in the game. Whenever he had the ball, he was determined to score but he also made sure to involve his teammates whenever possible. I particularly liked his competitiveness on the defensive end when he was playing on the ball.
