Sandy’s Spiel Spring Showcase: Top Scorers

Collins was one of the most natural scorers in the building. A true bucket-getter, he consistently found ways to put the ball in the hole from all three levels. Though listed at 6-foot-1, he plays longer thanks to his ability to elevate over defenders and create clean looks on his jumper. His mid-range pull-up is a weapon, and once he gets into a rhythm from deep, he can string together points in a hurry. What makes him even more dangerous is his handle—smooth and controlled, allowing him to change speeds, turn the corner, and get all the way to the rim. He doesn't just score either—he showed the ability to facilitate and get others involved, making him a complete offensive threat.     Johnson was in his bag all camp long. One of the most consistent shot-makers in attendance, he scored from all over the floor with creativity and confidence. He's especially dangerous off the bounce, using step-backs and quick moves to create separation and get clean looks. Despite being undersized, he has a knack for getting to his spots and making shots over bigger defenders. He also showed unselfishness, moving the ball quickly to open teammates and keeping the offense flowing. Add in his hustle—diving for loose balls and competing for 50/50s—and you get a guard who produces and competes.     Brown brings a nice blend of size, skill, and athleticism to the wing. The lefty guard is comfortable getting to his jumper, often using a crossover to create just enough separation to rise and fire. He knocked down shots from the perimeter, including corner threes, and showed the ability to finish at the rim with strength. His length and versatility also translated defensively, where he showed the ability to guard multiple positions. A well-rounded prospect with tools on both ends.     Hammonds plays with a calm, almost effortless demeanor, but don't let that fool you—he's a highly effective scorer. He operates at his own pace, knocking down threes and creating space for his step-back jumper with ease. He showed the ability to finish above the rim with authority, adding another dimension to his offensive game. A true three-level scorer, Hammonds can hurt you in multiple ways. As he continues to move without the ball and seek out easier scoring opportunities, his efficiency will climb even higher. A strong showing paired with a coachable, respectful approach.     Smoak played like he had something to prove. The physical swingman attacked from all angles, scoring from the perimeter, mid-range, and at the rim. His strength allowed him to absorb contact on drives, and he consistently found ways to finish through traffic. He also created his own offense by rebounding and pushing the ball coast-to-coast, putting pressure on defenses in transition. Smoak knocked down threes when given space and flashed the tools to be a high-level defender with his length and mindset. A tough, competitive wing.
