Our pick for MVP of the second-annual Mid-Major Classic was [player_tooltip player_id='2053402' first='Cade' last='Hartenstein']. The athletic 6-foot-1 guard from Westside Christian was near unstoppable whenever he got downhill to the hoop, and he didn't just score the ball for himself but found other teammates for buckets as well. The unsigned senior was grateful for the opportunity to be on the floor with and against other talented guys, giving it his all as he helped lead Team Isom to the even title.

"It's always good to compete with the best players from the smaller classifications," Hartenstein said. "It's huge getting an invite, it means a lot."

The opportunity to play - and win - at the Mid-Major Classic helped heal the wounds from this past year, where Westside Christian was upset before making it to state. But Hartenstein had an incredible senior season playing with the Eagles after transferring in from North Marion - and it was a year that should allow him to continue his playing career beyond the prep level.

"It was a little rough as it didn't turn out like how we thought it would," Hartenstein said. "But individually, I had a pretty good season. I'm looking forward to next year and possibly playing in college."

Hartenstein gave an update on how his college recruitment has been going. "I've been talking to some local schools in Oregon, like most of the Division III schools down there," Hartenstein said. "But I also would like to play in California - I mean, that's kind of in the place. So I've been talking to Cal Lutheran down there - that would be, that's one of my main top schools. But also just possibly playing at like a Biola or a Point Loma would be great too."

Overall, it's going to be a best fit scenario for him when it comes to where he'll end up. He's staying open while exploring every possible option. "It's kind of hard to get out there sometimes and get recognized to play out there, but I'm just talking with just like coaches out there and have a lot of people that reach out for me," Hartein said. "But I'm just looking to play anywhere, to be honest."
