<p><strong>Playoff Central</strong>. It's pigtail night. There are 14 Northern Minnesota Class A pigtail games being played in sections 5A, 6A, 7A, and 8A. We also get pigtail games in 4AA and 5AA (plus round of 16 games being played in 7AA). And the first big school playoff games will be played in Minnesota tonight and those are pigtail games as well! That would be winless North St. Paul and Minneapolis Edison, Westonka and Cooper, and Little Falls playing Rocori. </p>

<p><strong>The Big Stage</strong>. Mayo Civic Arena. Most sections are just getting going but some have to get their games in earlier because of rental dates in huge facilities. Therefore we get monster games tonight in the Mayo Civic Arena matching Goodhue and Lake City as well as Rushford-Peterson facing Triton. That's second ranked Goodhue led by [player_tooltip player_id='1951088' first='Luke' last='Roschen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2394170' first='Alex' last='Loos'] playing top junior prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2126464' first='Gavyn' last='Lorenson'], and you have the [program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last=''] who were top ten at one point facing Triton who is top ten right now and led by Mr. Basketball finalist [player_tooltip player_id='2119578' first='Pierce' last='Petersohn']. </p>

<p>And just down the hall in the Mayo Civic Auditorium..... two more games are being played with Southland taking on Bethlehem Academy, and 19-win Mabel-Canton battling 18-win Hayfield. </p>

<p><strong>Upset City</strong>.The closest thing to an upset on Saturday was 5th seeded Edgerton defeating 4th seed RTR. Edgerton earned the win with a significant 64-45 victory. Edgerton turned RTR over 17 times and held them to 7 of 35 shooting at the arc for the game. </p>

<p><strong>Top Performers</strong>. [player_tooltip player_id='2444899' first='Eli' last='Gerdes'] had 11 points and ten assists while Logan Roelofs had 12 points and 12 rebounds so there were two Central Minnesota Christian double-doubles in the 104-25 win over LQPV. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2765356' first='Caleb' last='Asake'] scored 20 points.</p>

<p>Six-foot-4 junior forward Jonathan Driggs had one of the section performance of the day scoring 29 points a with 22 rebounds in the Renville County West 76-58 win over MACCRAY.</p>

<p>But the big performance of the day? That would be 6'3 and 235 pound Caden Frericks from Wabasso grabbing THIRTY-FOUR rebounds in the win over Minneota. Six-foot-5 senior [player_tooltip player_id='2840972' first='Brayden' last='Guetter'] had 30 points for Wabasso. </p>

<p><strong>Tip of the Hat to the Career</strong>. [player_tooltip player_id='2841844' first='Drew' last='Swanson'] and Westbrook-Walnut Grove were knocked out of the playoffs after a 15-win season. Swanson is a multi-time honored all conference player and has had a few 30 plus points games this season. Drew is a high motor three level scorer who had another great year. </p>
