[player_tooltip player_id='2966412' first='Boone' last='Garrison'] (Hartville)

These two Class 2 state powers have had some tremendous battles at this point of the postseason in recent years. In 2025, Hartville defeated Eugene en route to winning a state title. Last season, Eugene returned the favor in an overtime thriller and went on to win a state championship.

Hartville has an inside weapon of its own ins 6'3" 2026 forward Gus Sinning, a robust power player who has emerged as one of the top small school players in the SWMO area. He scored 17 points in the victory over Norwood in the district finals. [player_tooltip player_id='2966412' first='Boone' last='Garrison'] is a 6'2" 2026 guard who is a capable ball handler and perimeter shooter.

Faith Christian's Rock Port (Class 1 at Lathrop)

[player_tooltip player_id='2626120' first='Jack' last='Meyerkorth'] (Rock Port)

These two Class 1 teams have high aspirations for the postseason. They met in early December with Faith Christian scoring a dominating 84-47 victory. That makes this rematch even more intriguing.

Faith Christian has very talented an well balanced team that plays well as a unit. They are led by 5'10" 2026 point guard Josiah Dull, who is a good playmaker and scoring threat. FCA also leans on 6'2" 2026 Max McMillen, 6'5" 2026 Parker Blanton and 6'3" 2026 Sam Akins for big contributions.

Rock Port is led by 6'1" 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2626120' first='Jack' last='Meyerkorth'], who is one of the top players in the NWMO area. He is a three-level scorer with great range. The 2028 Ellis twin, 6'5" [player_tooltip player_id='2873530' first='Logan' last=''] and 5'11" Reid are also strong contributors while 5'10" 2027 Brock Holmes can score and hit big shots.

******

Seymour vs Mt. View Liberty (Class 3 at Houston)

[player_tooltip player_id='2915430' first='Wyatt' last='Henry'] (Seymour)

This is a very good Class 3 matchup as both teams have good size and overall talent.

Seymour is led by 6'8" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2915430' first='Wyatt' last='Henry'], who is a matchup problem with his ability to make 3-pointers as well as his explosive athleticism around the rim. He routinely throws down alley-oop dunks. Truman Helms is a 6'3" 2027 forward who also has a versatile skill set.

Mt. View Liberty also has a quality big in 6'7" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2843294' first='Drayton' last='Wells'], whose forte is rebounding and shot blocking. Handling a big part of the offensive load is 6'3" 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2717774' first='Parker' last='Tune'] along with his 5'11" 2027 brother [player_tooltip player_id='2701080' first='Alex' last='Tune'].

******

Lincoln vs Crest Ridge (Class 2 at Smith-Cotton)

[player_tooltip player_id='2951102' first='Wyatt' last='Brant'] (Crest Ridge)

Lincoln is looking to make a return trip to the Final Four, where they finished fourth last season. The Cardinals will have to contend with a strong Crest Ridge team

Lincoln is led by 6'3" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2843277' first='Ben' last='Eckhoff'], who is rock solid player in the low post. Braydn Benham is a 6'0" guard who is very good at attacking the basket.

Crest Ridge has a dynamic duo to lean on in 6'3" 2026 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2966417' first='Wesley' last='Taylor'] and 6'2" 2029 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2951102' first='Wyatt' last='Brant']. Both were tremendous last week in leading Crest Ridge to their district championship.

*******

Brunswick vs Green City (Class 1 at Marceline)

Ivan Littrell (Green City)

One of the top sectional games that I watched last season was the one between these two teams, that was played at Green City. It was a high-tempo high scoring game in which Greenville prevailed 71-61. Both teams were ranked in the top five in the state at the time.

Both teams graduated a lot of talent, but they are back in this game because they have strong programs with new players stepping into bigger roles. Brunswick is led by talented 6'4"2028 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2919088' first='Balston' last='Brown'] along with quick 2026 point guard Dre Brown. Green City's most experienced player in 6'6" 2026 forward Ivan Littrell, who has the ability to score in the post and knock down jumpers.
