3/3/26: From the jump, facing Signal Mountain, [player_tooltip player_id='2333265' first='Condis' last='Cherry'] was a pest. The shorter guard pestered and bothered Eagles all over the court. He might not have the unimaginable quickness that he had before his injury just yet, but the agility and quickness is almost all of the way back. Cherry got his hands in the mix and kept challenging dribblers once he did. His arm strength is very good for his height. Some small guards get a few swats but are brushed away like gnats by bigs and forwards. Condis is much stronger in the chest and arms than those kinds of guards.

"He is doing a really good job generating turnovers," said Alcoa Head Coach Ryan Collins afterwards. "He probably gambles too much for my taste, but he creates a lot of turnovers."

Coach Collins thinks it is wise to let Condis defend as he does.

3/3/26: Jamir was written about long ago and continues to deserve more "ink" thanks to his tremendous athleticism and positional awareness. Dean will turn heads for his speed and dunking, but coaches and recruiters are going to certainly notice how active his hands and feet are at the other end. Dean altered shots and poked some steals loose all while defending every position. Midway through the second quarter Jamir deflected a crossing pass and comfortably surged up the float for a disturbingly smooth two-handed dunk. His fluid movements are the kind that make most justifiably jealous. Dean works hard on his craft, but he absolutely owns some things that many hoopers will simply never match (bounce, speed, agility).

"He is good at guarding the guards," said Alcoa Head Coach Ryan Collins after the victory via phone call. "He can contain a kid off of the bounce. Also, he is not scared to go inside and mix it up."

3/3/26: Heritage did not win at Red Bank. [player_tooltip player_id='2719374' first='Gaven' last='French'] impressed a lot of people with his two-way game. The guy shot well and defended with grit and athleticism against a speedy Lion unit. Gaven is a tough player and a multi-sport athlete.

3/3/26: Red Bank did not shoot well in the first half of their Tuesday night win. Heritage's [player_tooltip player_id='3537531' first='Rhett' last='Hall'] deserves a decent amount of credit for holding the high-scoring Lions down. Hall played center essentially. His presence around the rim made a difference. Red Bank run out 3-4 slashers at a time and preferred getting to the basket over launching outside bombs. Both Hall and [player_tooltip player_id='1497432' first='Eli' last='Williams'] stood with hands high and stable feet. It worked very well and only when Red Bank began hitting outside shots did the hosting Lions find much success. Rhett entered the game averaging 0.5 blocks per game, tied for the team lead with [player_tooltip player_id='1497432' first='Eli' last='Williams'].
