We take a look at some of the top-tier duos in the 3A State Tournament.

Fulton: [player_tooltip player_id='2495403' first='Nick' last='Steen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='3195672' first='Rejaun' last='Womble']

Mr. Basketball Finalist and two-time District MVP [player_tooltip player_id='2495403' first='Nick' last='Steen'] and fellow guard [player_tooltip player_id='3195672' first='Rejaun' last='Womble'] carry on the tradition of physical and frenetic defense at Fulton High. TSSAA Hall of Famer Fulton Head Coach Jody Wright is no stranger to the State Tournament, leader of five title-takers already (2008, 2009, 2016, 223, 2024). Coach Wright won his 900th career game two months ago. Further, Coach Wright is a member of the Anderson County Hall of Fame, Lincoln Memorial University Athletes Hall of Fame and Fulton Wall of Fame. Womble kind of plays all of the guard and wing positions within the game's sequence. He creates plenty of problems with quick hands and high effort. Expect Steen to challenge and even deny passes across the top of the key. Fulton is not impossible to defeat and yet their team is tremendously tough when they turn turnovers into points.

Alcoa: [player_tooltip player_id='2260983' first='Jamir' last='Dean'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2281190' first='Jibriel' last='Koko']

Alcoa is more than a duo, but for the purposes of this article [player_tooltip player_id='2260983' first='Jamir' last='Dean'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2281190' first='Jibriel' last='Koko'] create problem after problem. Jamir plays above the rim like few other 3A players and Koko routinely sizzles with first move speed of a dragster. Dean excels as both a football player and a hooper. Koko earned offers from both Pellissippi State Community College and Maryville College. In Alcoa High's sub-state victory Monday Jibriel took a dramatic, speedy step instantly gaining a half-step on District MVP D.J. Wilbur and easily captured the next 20' en route to an unchallenged layup. Koko's speed reminds of '25 Tyner guard Rodney Henderson III. Entering the State Tournament Alcoa (21-13) is on a five-game winning streak. Koko will not be much quicker than Fayette Ware's guards as he was throughout his senior season. One advantage he will have is height. Alcoa hopes to win their first State Championship since Jahvin Carter's 2024 team, back when they rattled off wins in their last nine games. Nobody beat them in District 5-3A all year. Further, Alcoa won both the District Tournament and Regional Tournament.

Uppermam: [player_tooltip player_id='2133810' first='Ty' last='Cobb'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2816000' first='Jack' last='Torrence']

Mr. Basketball [player_tooltip player_id='2133810' first='Ty' last='Cobb'] knows no equals in 3A. Fellow guard [player_tooltip player_id='2816000' first='Jack' last='Torrence'] lacks the lofty reputation of Cobb, but Torrence provides on-ball defense, leadership, and some occasional scoring. Cobb is the primary ball-handler and attacker. And scorer. And winner. Unlike Cobb Jack is a senior with a career record of 112-21 (84.2%). They are facing a beatable South Gibson Hornet outfit. Can Upperman capture a second consecutive State Championship?
