Senior Night at Madison High - Underclassman Steps Into Spotlight

The gym was loud, and the game was meaningful. It was senior night as the Madison Trojans hosted the Gateway STEM Jaguars. The Trojans would celebrate six seniors who are on track to graduate at the end of the year. The 2026 class would certainly contribute to the Trojans' victory over the Jaguars. Several other players also contributed. This provided insight into what the next few years reveal.      ( #2 ) Dallas Gardner is a wiry, high-motor point guard who was quick in transition. He excelled at using his speed to avoid back-court pressure. He also sent the ball up the court via a stretch pass. It's no surprise that Gardner is the school's star quarterback. When set, Gardner also found offensive success behind the arc. Gardner was aggressive on defense all night. He displayed quick hands by stripping the ball. He also poked it away from his opponents.     At first glance, (#23) Ladarius Hamiel is a football player. He uses his strength and size to muscle his way to the rim for inside shots. He is effective with layups and rebounds. While Hamiel can leverage his strength and size, he also demonstrates some finesse. Between the junior varsity and varsity games, Hamiel made at least 4 three-pointers. He showed flashes of poise with the ball.       (#15) Demarshawn Brown is a broad-shouldered freshman who dominates the glass by establishing positioning between the opponent and the rim. Offensively, Brown made a greater impact in the junior varsity game but still contributed at the varsity level. Most of his points come from offensive rebounds, making him a highly valuable player for the Trojans. Demarshawn Brown is definitely a player to watch.     (#11) [player_tooltip player_id='2959740' first='Gavin' last='Dillon'] seemed to be the team's playmaker, whether calling plays or taking charge of the game. He demonstrated good composure and was reliable on defense. Even though his shots weren't falling, Dillon maintained solid shooting form. He was confident from all parts of the court, including deep threes and mid-range shots. He drove inside or passed to a teammate.     ( #2 ) [player_tooltip player_id='2528201' first='Lee' last='Goodman'] is another Jaguar who stood out. He is a high-motor guard who read plays and picked-off passes. He kept his arms in passing lanes and eye on the play. Goodman showed good shooting form from mid-range and the occasional three-pointer. His defense was strong. His speed bursts highlighted his ability to push the ball up the court during transition. He managed to penetrate the lane for scoring opportunities.
