Hiawatha was on a continual transition run against Cooper earning a 96-71 win on Saturday afternoon. Who played well? We talk about several players today!

Hiawatha Collegiate

[player_tooltip player_id='2635714' first='Tim' last='Holmes'] (Jr). The 6'3 junior found himself in space all game and he took advantage. At the start Holmes had some end of possession scores as the final pass went to him and he finished. Then Holmes opened the floor making a couple jumpers from the deep perimeter, and as he forced Cooper to start closing out to him, Holmes then went to the rim in the half court or transition to complete his seven first half scores. Also did some good things pressuring the basketball as the point man on the press, moved his feet well and got that length out to distract and annoy. Has the potential to be a really good defender. Scored 30 points on 12 of 18 shooting with seven boards in this game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2404942' first='King' last='James'] (Jr). Cooper was pressuring the entire game and I think my biggest takeaway from the first half from James was how well he handled it as one of the first players touching the ball from the in-bounder. James threw a ton of quality outlet passes to break the press and to have your biggest guy as the first guy the ball goes to break pressure says something. Also hit a three early and then oh yeah.... he Euro-stepped by a guy for a dunk and then a bit later, on a baseline in-bounds play, King caught, high-low passed the ball, his teammate missed the shot but James pretty much leap frog dunked over an opponent with two hands. It was wild. Finished with 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting with 12 rebounds.

Harrison Weisneth (Soph). This kid is huge. Any time we see a player this big and he is young at 6'10 and doing some things we have to mention it. He's not just tall, Harrison is a big strong guy with big legs and long length. Made a couple plays at the rim as Cooper just ran into him like he was indestructible. Rebounded well in his short time on the floor, used that size to block four shots, and made four foul shots that looked pretty good coming out of his hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='2396187' first='Kristian' last='Ward'] (Jr). The Hiawatha third leading scorer this year at 13.5 points a game, the 6'3/6'4 wing gives his team a consistent downhill scoring option in the half court, and a transition scorer flying up the floor on the break. Scored three times in early in the game using his agility to get the angle at the rim to finish.

Robbinsdale Cooper

Demonds Goines Jr (Sr). Cooper has won more games than expected this year and Goines is a key reason why. He is a lightning quick 5'9 guard that has to use his speed to get to space quickly before bigger help players can close the gap and he did that well. Goines made two really tough one hand makes on the move just zipping to space to release and then weaved through the entire defense the other way for a finger roll. Like how hard he plays and its a testament to he that Cooper has won far more games than expected. Scoring 17 points a game this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2444647' first='Tavorian' last='Thompson'] (Sr). I like the toughness of this young man. About 6'1 and 225 pounds and he battles with guys way bigger than him and gets results. Scoring 13 points a game and at one point he was dunked on, but he kept his cool and kept competing.

Lamarion Edwards (Sr or Soph). A 6'6/6'7 long armed post that has improved as the year as went on scoring 16 against Brooklyn Center in the win and a dozen in the close game loss to Fridley. Long arms, runs well, and getting more comfortable it seems. Listed as a senior someplaces, as a sophomore in other places. A lefty which makes him more unique as a prospect.
