We have had this game circled on the schedule for a week or two now. It was our first chance to see a very successful West Lafayette team and it had been since the Sneakers For Santa Classic since we saw Brownsburg play. Then, earlier this week, this game added a bit more intrigue as it was announced that Gordon Hayward would have his #20 jersey retired at the game. It was very neat to be on-hand for that ceremony. Now, on to the game.

The host Bulldogs quickly jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Senior guard Brandon Garrison got loose for an early three and converted three free throws when he was fouled on a second attempt. Junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='2141044' first='Brandon' last='Day']'s physicality was putting West Lafayette back on their heels as well. However, as the pace continued to pick up, the Red Devils were able to settle in. Senior guard Ben Werth hit a couple of three point shots, as did his classmate and backcourt partner [player_tooltip player_id='2399009' first='Drew' last='Whitlock']. However, Brownsburg still held onto a 23-14 lead after the opening quarter.

Brownsburg brought more of the same to the second quarter. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1962847' first='Chrishon' last='Woodward'] stayed hot from beyond the arc while also using his size to finish around the basket. He was outstanding off of the bench and was the best player on the floor throughout the game. Woodward is such a versatile offensive player. The Bulldogs continued to build their lead in a fast-paced game and took a 42-28 advantage into the halftime locker room.

[player_tooltip player_id='2399009' first='Drew' last='Whitlock'] connected on a couple of three-point shots early in the second half to keep West Lafayette within striking distance, but they could never make any real progress on the scoreboard. Brownsburg's size, led by [player_tooltip player_id='1962847' first='Chrishon' last='Woodward'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2272233' first='Chris' last='Brandon'], along with the perimeter play of [player_tooltip player_id='1561114' first='Brandon' last='Addison'] was just too much for the Red Devils.

The Bulldogs led by 20+ late in the game and went on to cruise to a 71-55 victory. West Lafayette fell to 14-3 with the loss while Brownsburg improved to 10-7.

[player_tooltip player_id='1962847' first='Chrishon' last='Woodward'], a 6'5" unsigned senior forward, finished with 21 points including five three-point shots for Brownsburg. He is a very intriguing scholarship-worthy small college prospect. 5'10" unsigned senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561114' first='Brandon' last='Addison'] added 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists for the Bulldogs. 6'8" senior center [player_tooltip player_id='2272233' first='Chris' last='Brandon'] chipped in 12 points.

For West Lafayette, Ben Werth hit four three-point shots and finished with 22 points to lead all scorers. Fellow senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2399009' first='Drew' last='Whitlock'] had 15 points and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2799464' first='Calvin' last='Snyder'] added 13 points and 3 blocked shots.
