Harlem Coley, Raton: Continuing his success on the football field in the fall, Coley is showing he's one of the top young athletes in the state. He is Raton's third leading scorer at 9.3 points and the third leading rebounder at 5.1 rebounds per game. The Tigers have struggled to win games (they snapped an 11-game losing streak on Saturday) but Corley offers promise for the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='2722439' first='Ajay' last='Encinias'], Vaughn: Competing in District 1A-3 against the likes of Alamo Navajo, Mountainair and Hondo Valley, Vaughn has struggled to win games this season. But Encinias has enjoyed a solid freshman campaign by averaging over 10 points per game. He is Vaughn's leading scorer.

Aaron Marizcal, Tatum: According to MaxPreps, Marizcal is the top scoring freshman in the state. Tatum has struggled from a win-loss perspective, which is why you haven't heard much about Marizcal. He's averaging close to 17 points and over 4 rebounds per game. His Points Per 32 are tops in the state, regardless of classification. He made 45 3-pointers as an 8th-grader in 2024-25, and should surpass that total this season.

Robertson (12-10 overall, 4-2 District) sits in third place in District 3A-2 behind St. Michael's and Santa Fe Indian School.

Eric Tsosie, Dulce: Another freshman averaging well over 10 points per game. Dulce is off to a solid 14-8, 5-1 start and leads District 2A-1 by one-half game ahead of Rehoboth Christian. Those two teams square off Wednesday night.
