Upset Alert

Sioux Center: The Warriors beat Le Mars by 11 points in the first game back after the holiday break. Neither team shot it well from 3 in that game, but if the Bulldogs can shoot it better than the 25% they shot in that game, they'll have a chance to pull off the upset. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2114193' first='Jackson' last='Wells'] (13.8) is the player to watch here if Le Mars is going to pull off the upset.

Glenwood: Saydel is limping into the postseason, losers of three straight, but the Eagles have one of the most explosive scorers in the state on their side in senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2731882' first='Gage' last='Moreno'], averaging just under 23 points per game. He can take over a game and carry Saydel to a win here with his ability to score from all three levels as well as create quality looks for his teammates.

Waverly-Shell Rock: The Go-Hawks have been up-and-down all year and don't have a true go-to scorer when things get bogged down. Vinton-Shellsburg, bringing nearly everyone back from last year's roster, has underperformed a bit but has four double-figure scorers who can each carry the team on any given night in [player_tooltip player_id='2886875' first='Jacoby' last='Johnson'] (15.5, 4.2 assists), [player_tooltip player_id='2906467' first='Colt' last='Koeppen'] (11.5, 7.1 rebounds), [player_tooltip player_id='2906502' first='Kade' last='Sutton'] (10.3), and Leif Allen (10.2). That many weapons can make them difficult to defend.

Burlington: The Grayhounds swept Washington during the regular season, winning by 10 on January 9 and 8 on February 13. The old saying is that it's hard to beat a team three times in a season, will that prove true here? In [player_tooltip player_id='2419825' first='Nic' last='Stone'] (15.1), Drew Conrad (14.1), and Rajan Roth (13.0), Washington has three players who can score in bunches and take over games.

Mount Vernon: The Mustangs host 5-16 Bondurant-Farrar in their quarterfinal game, and that means a date with 6-6 forward Drake Pflatzgraff, averaging 16.5 points and 11.3 rebounds. According to BC Moore, the Bluejays have played the most difficult schedule in 3A, so they won't be intimidated going on the road here and taking on the 'Stangs.

Winterset: The Huskies split with Carlisle during the regular season, so it obviously wouldn't be a huge shock for the Wildcats to win the rubber match. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2754714' first='Trey' last='Osterhaus'] (24.4) is a dominant scorer who can attack the rim routinely off the dribble. He was great in the Carlisle win, with 25 points on 9-14 shooting and not so great, 12 points on 5-15 shooting, in the loss. Whichever Osterhaus shows up probably determines the outcome.

Humboldt: Humboldt and Algona will meet for the third time in the last two weeks on Monday night. They split during the regular season, each winning on their home floor. In the Algona win, the Bulldogs dominated the glass to the tune of a 34-21 edge. If that isn't cleaned up by Humboldt, their season could end at the hands of their conference rival.
