Thursday, February 12th Mr. Basketball Finalists will be released by TSSAA. This is straight from the TSSAA office, which I called Tuesday morning. This is an incomplete list of Mr. Basketball candidates from the 4A classification. You can read Part I here.

Jet-quick. [player_tooltip player_id='1646372' first='Quez' last='Scott'] does not get much love statewide because he lives and plays in Clarksville, but the guy can go. Scott thrives off a quick-first step and decent explosion. His passing helps Northwest's Vikings create. If there is a weakness in his game, then it is outside shooting. Most of Scott's damage occurs inside the arc. PrepHoopsTN ranked him initially two years ago and the talented combo guard remains in the Top 200.

He holds offers from Trinity Vallley Community College, Vincennes University, Pellissippi State Community College, and Columbia State Community College.

Jaquez Scott started way back in January of his freshman year. His fellow starters in 2023 were Tacarey Monday, Hagan Albright, AJ Wallus, and Ahmad Harvey.

Scoring: 14.3 ppg
Rebounding: 3.4 rebounds per game
Passing: 3.4 apg
Shooting: 46.2% FG, 39.1 % 3pters
Accolades: City of Palms MVP, City of Palms Hustle Award, Battle for Nashville All-Tournament, Bass Pro All-Tournament Team, Daily Memphian Player of the Week

Braylon is the starting point guard for the #1 team in the state and PrepHoops' favorite to win the 4A State Championship. His 14.3 points per game are lower than most 4A Mr. Basketball candidates because he plays with four future D1 stars who also score at a high rate. Braylon is a winner with a history of big play in big moments. He might not win this award, but he will be in consideration for as long as he plays high school hoops in Tennessee.

Kirkwood's junior backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='2309002' first='Armani' last='Smith'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2278560' first='Bryce' last='Garnett'] can compete with any pair in the state. Armani dropped 37 points recently and managed 30+ five different times in his career. He earned an offer from hometown Austin Peay last winter and just might be signed eventually to a D1 program thanks to his exceptional first-step burst and height for the position (6'2").
