Tuesday night we took in some southern Illinois action as Herrin hosted Marion. Lot of quality prospects in the 2027 and 2028 classes in this one. Marion jumped out, Herrin clawed back to take the lead, then Marion ran away late to win 56-47. Below we examine the prospects that caught our attention!

[player_tooltip player_id='2978085' first='Cameron' last='Curry'] (Marion – 2027)

Curry really popped in this game! The 6'3” shooting guard brings plus athleticism being able to play both on and off the ball. Like what he did winning on straight line takes blowing past defenders for scores at the cup. Very nifty finisher with excellent body control maneuvering for euro steps and acrobatic layups. Was in attack mode all night looking to get downhill. Didn't shoot it hardly at all from deep. He is a solid passer that made several nice reads including in the open floor. Defensively he got in passing lanes and caused havoc with multiple steals for dunks. Went for 23 points in the win!

[player_tooltip player_id='2832367' first='Makhi' last='House'] (Marion – 2028)

House is an intriguing combo guard in the sophomore class. Like the size, strength, and length he plays with. Quiet start early in the game, but he kept at it getting to the charity stripe at a nice clip mixing in transition scores off his defense finishing with 9 points. Definitely a name to know!

Blake Blue (Marion – 2027)

First look at this unknown 6'5” four man who we had not seen play before. He really rebounded well in traffic snatching them at their high point, blocked jump shots, and moved his feet defensively on the perimeter. Rim protector that knocked in a spot up three and had an and-1 off a baseline out of bounds play. Definitely tools to work with as he had 7 points.

Jaxton Faulkenberry (Herrin – 2027)

Faulkenberry is more of a baseball player for college, but he was his team's top scorer on this night with 21 points leading Herrin. Stocky 6'0” shooting guard that has solid handles, attacked off the bounce, and had a nose for the basketball. Capable three point shooter as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2832405' first='JJ' last='Gwaltney'] (Herrin – 2028)

Gwaltney is among the better pure shooters in the sophomore class. Wings with size always play and that is what he is. Marion keyed in on him not letting him get a ton of clean looks, but he did bang in a couple along with a nice cut off the ball which led to a sweet mid-range J. Solid rebounder and throws strong outlets off of them. He had 10 points.

Jaxon Hudson (Herrin – 2028)

This 6'0” sophomore is a southpaw whose job is to spot up and let it fly! That is what he did nailing a pair from deep for 6 points.
