With the most recent updates in the 2026 rankings here at Prep Hoops North Carolina, I discovered a strong group of unsigned players that are still looking for more next level options as their senior years respectively wind down to a close. Some of these guys are late bloomers, some are just genuinely overlooked, but all of the players I'm about to list are bonafide next level prospects. Let's take a look!

Smith has been a consistent producer here in North Carolina possessing a ton of flare as a scorer and playmaker. He finds himself ranked ahead of a handful of guys committed to division one schools, so you guys know where I stand in terms of a level projection. Smith has Washington on another playoff run and is averaging 20.6 Points, 3.9 Rebounds, 7.5 Assists, 2.5 Steals, and 0.7 Blocks per game this season. Smith has the complete ability to run a team at this point as he's truly made serious strides in his pure PG ability. Smith's outside shot is streaky but he is very capable of getting hot and swinging a game. His tight handle, evasive footwork, and elite ambidextrous touch around the rim make him a super tough check off the bounce. I fully expect Smith to get a little bit of late recruitment pop after the portal settles down and someone will be getting a gem.

Fowler is another available kid ranked amongst other bonafide division one level players and with the work he's done at Northwood this season, he's one himself. Fowlers blend of physical tools, outside touch, and natural winning ability make him a guy that most would think has more going on in his recruitment than he currently does. Fowler is averaging 22.0 Points, 6.4 Rebounds, 2.6 Assists, 2.0 Steals, and 0.7 Blocks on 53/38/78 splits. The ability Fowler possesses on the ball at his size/strength is one of the most intriguing things about him. A true multi positional weapon in the backcourt that can do so many things to help a team. Fowler has a lot of options in front of him but he should continue to garner more and more opportunities.

Strand got a nice little bump in the rankings moving up from 73 to 67 and he's got a chance to continue rising as he's starting to show a lot more vertical pop in his game than he previously did. Strand is a great blend of outside shooting and rebounding at his size. He just has a generally smooth game, as he will frequently grab a rebound, push it in transition, and make a play for himself or a teammate. Strand is averaging 17.2 Points, 11.3 Rebounds, 1.9 Assists, 2.2 Steals, and 2.1 Blocks per game. He's having an all-state type season on a Heritage team that just won their 2nd round playoff game to advance to the 3rd round. Strand should continue to garner more and more next level attention as the season winds down. He's got a lot of translatable skills to the next level.

Green's ability to run a team that wins at a high level is what makes him such an appealing PG for the next level. His understanding of managing the game, keeping his teammates engaged at both ends, all while balancing his own offense is really really impressive. Green can get you 25 if needed or be the best player on the floor while only taking 5 shots. He also possesses a ton of ability on the defensive end of the floor, he slides his feet well, has active hands, but isn't over aggressive in his approach at that end of the floor. Green isn't a big guard but has that wiry strength that allows him to play through contact with minimal issue. As Apex Friendship enjoys one of if not their best season in school history, Green has been the catalyst and looks to lead them on another deep playoff run after a 3rd round win vs Broughton this evening.

Swindell is one of those guys that might not be a fit everywhere but is 100% a fit somewhere because he's not your traditional big or wing. Swindell is a classic front-court mismatch guy and North Carolina has produced so many of these "types" over the years. They can't fit in any system but Swindell can really score it from every level, rebound both backboards, and exploit slower bigs off the bounce. Swindell brings a ton of energy to the table and checks all of the intangible boxes. Swindell can bully smaller wings with his strong frame, stretch the floor with his shooting, and make traditional bigs look like they don't know what to do when trying to guard him. Lewis Walker, Nick Farrar, etc. We've seen these guys have success in situations that work, Swindell possesses a lot of those abilities.
