Who is going to take Mr. Basketball this season? We are in mid-January and it looks like this race is wide open.

Leader.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560882' first='Cedric' last='Tomes'] of East Ridge.Tomes continues to score 31 points a game while keeping his AAAA team in the top ten with a good record at 10-3. Tomes recently had 50 points in a statement game, a Mr. Basketball moment game in knocking off top ranked Totino-Grace.

Final Five Level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560778' first='Nolen' last='Anderson'] of Wayzata. The future Gopher is scoring 23 points a game and his team is still the favorite for the Class AAAA title. That said, the [program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last=''] will fall out of the top spot after losing to Maple Grove in a game where Nolan had 18. Anderson also had 21 points combined during the Wisconsin two game swing but then came back and had 34 against Shakopee and 29 in the win over Edina.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560827' first='Kale' last='Misegades'] of Henning. Kale has Henning ranked second in the state and he's had four triple doubles already while averaging 30 points a game. The Class A Player of the Year favorite is averaging a double-double and is pushing for a state title.

Battling for Top Five

[player_tooltip player_id='1560868' first='Joseph' last='Mitchell III'] of Cretin-Derham Hall. Mitchell is not just averaging 21 points, four rebounds and four assists a game for the third ranked team in state, he is doing it shooting nearly 50 percent from the three point line. The future Tommie had 19 points in the win over Irondale last night.

[player_tooltip player_id='1550877' first='Jayden' last='Moore'] of Hopkins. Moore is averaging 18.4 points, 9.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 steals a game for the Royals who are back in the top ten in Class AAAA. Moore has eight double-doubles this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560740' first='Dothan' last='Ijadimbola'] of Totino-Grace. A top player for the top ranked team in Class AAA, Dothan just had 22 points in a 50 point win over Rogers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560739' first='Max' last='Iversen'] of Maple Grove. Max had a game high 25 points leading his team to a big win over top ranked Wayzata. Iversen is running the point position and scoring 18.5 points per game. Max also had 25 against Hopkins, and 21 against Tonka.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560867' first='Christian' last='Wiggins'] of Wayzata. The Iowa State signed guard is scoring 18.5 points a game. He had 34 points in Wisconsin in a win over Nicolet and scored 28 in the blowout of Buffalo. Had 17 points in the loss to Maple Grove.

Top Ten Level

[player_tooltip player_id='2118474' first='Ethan' last='Martin'] of Belle Plaine. Martin is pushing hard for that AA Player of the year award scoring 32 points a game for the top team in Class AA, and he is doing against a very tough level of competition. In recent weeks Martin has led his team to wins over Marshall, Caledonia, Waseca and Orono.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119578' first='Pierce' last='Petersohn'] of Triton. Pierce is averaging 31 points a game and just recently had a monster double-double with 39 points in a one point loss to a very good Goodhue team. Having a clear first team All State year at AA.

[player_tooltip player_id='2121332' first='Deron' last='Russell'] of Waseca. Russell is scoring 32 points a game for a 7-5 team and has played at a Class AA All State level.

Add Them to the List

[player_tooltip player_id='1874931' first='Shiloh' last='Ayitey'] of Blaine. Shiloh has his team undefeated on the season and he is scoring 23 points a game during the run. Shiloh recently went head to head with [player_tooltip player_id='1560865' first='Nolan' last='Myren'] in a big game with Spring Lake Park and Shiloh scored 40 points doubling up his counterpart.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560741' first='Will' last='Kirsch'] of Waconia. Kirsch has the Cats at 8-4 (a better record than expected) and he is doing it averaging 27.4 points a game and just had 25 points in a really nice win over Chanhassen this week. Kirsch is stepping into the conversation not just as a higher level All State AAAA player but now in.... The Race.
