REWIND: ALA-WF wins a fast paced game vs AZ Lutheran

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On December 2nd I watched the replay of the 3A <strong>ALA- West Foothills Guardians</strong> hosting the 3A <strong>AZ Lutheran Coyotes</strong>. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Guardians play at one of the fastest paces in the state and it makes the game very exciting. They ended up winning <strong>95-92</strong> and </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were some standouts </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3318546' first='Brendon' last='Kurzawski'] ALA West-Foothills&nbsp;(Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring PG who plays off of the pick and roll game well and will find a teammate. He will score getting trips to the FT line and has a nice three point stroke and can get hot from distance. Once he gets pushed off the line he has a nice floater game he utilizes and he can handle contact inside and score thru it. He also had the block of the game on a full sprint coming over to blocking a 3pt shooter. He was really calm under pressure and he is a natural athlete playing three different sports. He scored a game high 27 points.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2674764' first='Cam' last='Lauer'] ALA-West Foothills</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A hyper athletic power forward had a dunk on the opening play setting the tone. He will leap up and grab a rebound at its highest point and he is also a good shot blocker and runs the floor well. He can bring the ball up the court and make a play. He works best inside but he can step out and hit the three and has multiple counter moves and a polished hook shot. His spin move is also very hard to defend inside. He scored 21 points with 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. <strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3319043' first='Brody' last='Hobson'] ALA-West Foothills</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A wing forward finishes well in transition with either hand and will play off of two feet. He is efficient near the hoop and he can hit the three off the catch with a quick trigger. He has quicker hands in the passing lanes to collect steals and will even block shots inside the paint. He scored 18 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2534893' first='Blake' last='Lunt'] ALA-West Foothills</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled scoring point guard a is a plus rebounder and he will advance pass it up the court perfectly and he is a good passer with his left or right hand plus drive and kick it. He can spin off of his defenders and get to the basket and he has real range beyond the three point line with a quicker trigger. He has a deceptively fast burst down the lane and can hesitate to get past. He can rope passes diagonally up the court straight into shooting pockets. He can score with and-1's thru traffic and he can rise up and make a mid-range jumper while being contested by a defender. He scored 6 points and 5 assists.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3319343' first='Jay' last='Ohm'] AZ Lutheran</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A thicker framed wing forward who will score with offensive rebound put backs in bunches. He is hyper effective and efficient in the paint at only six-foot two and has a nice spin move he will use. He gets a lot of free throw attempts and can step out and shoot the three off the catch. He is also a good passer and he was a rebounding machine gobbling up 13 boards. He scored 32 points with 5 assists.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2812746' first='Cash' last='Hill'] AZ Lutheran&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring combo guard will fill it up with cuts of the ball to get trips to the line or finish. He will give a hard ball fake and will score it in transition. He is a known shooter and they were trying to get him off the line but when he was able to set his feet cleanly he would knock them down with one of the cleanest strokes off the catch. He seems to love the corners and has a textbook release.&nbsp;He scored 17 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3318769' first='Nash' last='Beilke'] AZ Lutheran&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A fluid power forward with some size is active around the basket. He is a little lean and needs to get stronger but will fight inside and corral the board. He will score it near the hoop and earn trips to the free throw line. He scored 8 points with 5 rebounds.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
