Pennfield At Jackson Northwest – Player Evaluations

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Pennfield traveled to Jackson Northwest last night and picked up a hard fought 65-58 win. Pennfield built an early lead, but Jackson Northwest battled back. In the end, Pennfield's size and stars helped the team hold on for the victory. It felt like he took his game to another level in the second half and really dominated. Lake is big, strong, and athletic. He did a really nice job of playing outside-in. Lake is a comfortable shooter from outside, but he was also able to work mismatches and put his back to the basket on the block. He has a mature game for a freshman and isn't afraid of the big moment. He's shifty off the ball and able to combine those ball skills with smooth freedom of movement. I really don't track points scored all that much, but DeDeaux had to have over 20. His game kind of reminds me of his teammate talked about above. He's strong enough to be a difference maker around the rim, but looks really comfortable on the perimeter as well. Merlington's jumper splashed a few times last night. It felt like he had a huge second half and was key in the Jackson Northwest run. Williams has an athletic jumper that he can hit off the dribble and on the move. I have no idea how many points or rebounds Paesens had. It really doesn't matter because his game influence was very obvious. Paesens was another big and strong player that Northwest had to account for, both with the ball in his hands and on the glass.
