Game Spotlight: MICDS vs Vianney Top Five Stars

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top games around the state on Wednesday night was a non-conference showdown between MICDS and visiting Vianney.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both teams entered the game ranked in the top five of the latest Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 5 rankings. Vianney is ranked No. 2 while MICDS is ranked No. 3.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Vianney scored the first basket off the game, but from that point on, it was all MICDS as they rolled to an impressive 61-45 victory. The put together an excellent defensive effort to hold Vianney's potent offense to less than 50 points. He was playing every position on the floor and having an impact on the game in multiple ways. He was playing the point-forward role role as a primary ball handler and facilitator. He was rebounding well and starting the break with some terrific lead passes which led to transition buckets. He was matched up against Vianney's talented 7'0" 2028 center [player_tooltip player_id='2564264' first='Mamadou' last='Barry'] and he played very well. He got things going on offense by hitting three wide open jumpers from about 15 feet. In the second half he did a great job of finishing around the basket. He drove it well and he was scoring inside with both hands. He also stepped in a took a charge on the defensive lane. He played with excellent pace and had a couple of nice finishes in the transition game. He was also very effective when he was slashing into the lane and either getting a bucket or drawing the foul.
