Time for Class 2A to share the spotlight. Reigning State Champions Loretto is always vital to the postseason picture and this article focuses on their game against a abnormally deep Cascade High. Three Grundy County players are also highlighted.

1/30/26: Gus played very well Thursday against a weak F.C. Boyd, Sr. frontline. Gus essentially played center and owned the lanes on both ends. Like coaches always implore, [player_tooltip player_id='2688345' first='Gus' last='Williams'] caught the ball high, kept it high, and finished high never involving the smaller defenders in the shots. Williams made all of his baskets within 8'. Listed as a power forward here his high school career typically is that of a center. With AAU Gus was able to play a bit more away from the lane. If he is able to play at the college level, then it would be NAIA as a frontcourt scorer/rebounder.

1/30/26: In a blowout win at F.C. Boyd Thursday Warren executed quite well. The whole Grundy County team attacked with urgency and crispness. Warren handled pretty well and showed off quickness that Boyd simply could not match. Langley shot the ball well though he remains quite thin considering this is midway through his senior year. With Grundy Couty he can comfortably play either guard position.

1/30/26: [player_tooltip player_id='3455939' first='Easton' last='Rymer'] is a player to watch for down the line. A sophomore, Easton played a ton for Grundy County Thursday and only came off when the blowout became obvious and GCHS emptied the bench. Rymer projects as a combo guard. The veterans did most of the ball-handling and GCHS defended in a zone, so it was not ideal to evaluate his skills. Agility and competitiveness did stand out though.

1/31/26: Cooper plays SF/PF for Cascade, but he projects as a SG after high school due to his height. Right now Cooper is not overly quick, but he uses his strides to get by smaller defenders. Cascade needed the offense that Cooper gave, for sure. He used his long strides effectively.

1/31/26: Mason put on a lot of weight in the last nine months, most of it muscle. He plays center now. Sometimes point guard. Evaluating him as a high school player...Tidwell is dominant on the low block with both scoring and rebounding. Obviously, he can't play there if he plans to try college basketball at 6-foot-4. Draws fouls often in 2A. Great shooting touch. Seems like he was speedier 18 months ago than he is now.

1/31/26: Kylon gets to handle and create a lot more this season. His handle is very impressive and he can incorporate some tricky moves. Wilkerson is the team's quickest with the ball though he needs to watch his turnovers. Explosive vertically. Cascade could not match Kylon's speed.
