Central Arizona Holiday Classic: Sleepers on the Rise

I had the opportunity to attend the Arizona Holiday Classic at Casa Grande Union High School, and the event more than lived up to the hype. While the headline matchups drew plenty of attention, it was the under-the-radar prospects who truly stood out, seizing the opportunity to showcase their skill, competitiveness, and growth. Several players used the high-level competition as a platform to elevate their games and turn heads, emerging as sleeper talents who significantly boosted their stock with strong, impactful performances throughout the event.    Lewis is a three level scorer who looks to make an impact on the game. He has a high basketball IQ and makes the right play at the right time. Teamed up with Linehan, creates one of the most underrated backcourts in Southern Arizona. I expect Lewis and Linehan to propel the Cougars into the 5A playoffs.     A three level scorer who makes plays. Lopez impressed me as he competes hard on both ends of the floor. I expect him to help sneak his team into the 4A playoffs. I like his ability to lead and do the little things his team needs to compete in games.     Although Desert View is a very young program, Reyes plays like a tazmanian devil by out hustling the competition, making plays, and scoring from all three levels. Reyes impressed me with his toughness and could help a small college program as a glue guy.     Shipp can flat out go! He thrives as a slashing wing who utilizes his explosive first step to get to the rim and finish. He can also hit jumpers from mid and long range. He is just an all around player who contributes on the glass and defensively. He will be one of the reasons the Padres sneak into the 4A playoffs.     Stoudemire is just scratching the surface of his potential. He is a solid rim runner who protects the paint, rebounds, and finishes around the rim. Stoudemire has been developing his perimeter game over the last year and a half which once it all comes together he will be a solid sleeper prospect for teams. I like this kid's potential and upside.     Williams is an alpha-male who can hit the 3 but is explosive to finish around the rim. Although basketball is his favorite sport, he is a stand out on the gridiron and holds multiple mid major and high major division offers as a tight end. I expect him to be a big part of Casa Grande's 5A playoff run.
