One of the best parts of the holiday tournaments is finding new prospects! There were a ton of them we caught during a nine day period I covered games from Jacobs, Elgin, Wheeling, Hinsdale Central, Jack Tosh, Collinsville, Pekin, Duster-Thomas, and Pontiac. Here are the 2028 and 2029 New Names That Emerged!

[player_tooltip player_id='2389052' first='DeAngelo' last='Rodriguez Jr'] (Maine West – 2028)

This scoring combo guard from Maine West popped on our radar because of his sharp shooting from deep. Free and easy shot maker with plus athleticism.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532020' first='Mason' last='Markman'] (Glenbrook North – 2028)

Markman goes about 6'2” with a strong frame. He got to the hoop with his strength and handles finishing creative layups, sweeping shots, and converting off bullet passes from his teammates. Was a solid passer himself as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2769579' first='Ray' last='Rienow'] (Wheaton Academy – 2028)

Rienow is a 6'5” shooter with size who burst on the scene against St. Laurence. Lanky frame and can really drain shots from beyond the arc off the catch as he had 11 points in their first round loss.

Cam Beekman (Metamora – 2028)

Beekman only netted one bucket in their game against Nazareth, but it was enough as we saw glimpses of what the 6'6” sophomore could bloom into. Backed in for a hook shot off the glass and blocked a shot. Frame to add strength.

[player_tooltip player_id='2438695' first='Hunter' last='Thiel'] (Glenbrook South – 2028)

First look at the 6'7” five man from GBS and we liked what we saw. He has a nice frame and legit size down low. Rebounds well in his area getting several put backs. Has skill scoring with nimble footwork and touch along with being a nice passer as he had 11 points against Hinsdale South.

Joey Biedke (Conant – 2028)

It wasn't a huge game from Biedke, but we liked what we saw from the 6'0” sophomore lead guard with his crisp passing and active hands on the defensive end. His brother was a big man that was a star for Conant so he might not be done growing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2839935' first='George' last='Schager'] (Glenbard North – 2028)

Schager is a 6'2” sophomore wing that burst on our radar with a strong performance against Lemont in the second round at Tosh. Plus shooter with a clean release from beyond the arc. Can attack a close out and has physical upside!

[player_tooltip player_id='2969717' first='Thomas' last='Woodson'] (Quincy – 2028)

Woodson had a great day in the two games we saw. The 6'6” 2028 is going to make a big debut in our next update. In the first game he had 7 points and 7 rebounds. Followed that up with 20 points (9-12 F) (2-2 3PT) and 7 rebounds against Granite City. Long and fluid athlete that is oozing upside. Works great out of the high/low as both a passer and finisher. Clean looking shot as a spot up shooter and really rebounds in his area.

Juelz Clausell (Quincy – 2028)

Clausell is a scoring combo guard who plays with flair. Constantly flying around making things happen. He banged in threes with a clean shot, passed well off live dribbles, and got after it defensively. Very bright future!

Alante Anderson (Moline – 2028)

Thick bodied wing just produces! The Moline prospect brings toughness and the ability to get buckets in the paint.

Braylon Thomas and [player_tooltip player_id='2991012' first='Jailan' last='Bunch'] (Lanphier – 2028)

Pair of sophomore two guards that presented projectability and fluid athleticism in the game we saw as they both did their damage in the paint for 8 points and 7 points respectively.

Brennan Shannon (Lake Park – 2028)

Shannon looks about 6'6” as a five man that rebounded exceptionally well in the game we saw in his area. Fought for boards and boxed out. Also showed some touch on a baseline J as he went for 5 points and 11 rebounds.

Jaquan Harris (Bloom – 2028)

Harris emerged with a big outing against Plainfield North scoring 13 points. The 6'0” shooting guard is a plus athlete that can defend all over the floor and has potential on his shot. Should fit in well next to their 2029 core.

mechanics. Also looked to be a good defender. He had 20 points against Joliet West.

Graham Martinson (Yorkville – 2028)

Martinson had a breakout performance for Yorkville in the first round at Jack Tosh where he poured in four triples. Plus shooter in the sophomore class had 16 points and is going to team up nicely with Porter and Jakstys the next three years.

Alex Kaled (Glenbrook South – 2028)

This sophomore 6'1” undersized post brought his physicality to the table giving his team a spark in the first half. Like how he crashed the glass and finishes through contact.

Tim Griffith (Quincy – 2029)

Broad shouldered wing at 6'2” that has a good skill set. Finishes around the hoops on slashes and cuts. Connective passer and capable shooter from distance. The freshman has a chance to be plus defender.

Brennan Lepper (Quincy – 2029)

At 6'7” this wide bodied center jumps off the floor with his pure size for a freshman. Has solid skill set and is light on his feet. Hook shots, seals, runs the floor, drop steps, and even hit a three in one of the games we saw. Passes it well for post.

Andre Tucker (Leo – 2029)

Tucker was lethal with his shooting giving Leo a spark in the first half of their opening round win at Pekin. Poured in a trio of them letting them fly with confidence for 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2415762' first='Christian' last='Burge'] (Lake Park – 2029)

The freshman guard burst on the scene as a role player for Lake Park. Quick guard got in the lane for some floaters and hit a three. Some tools to work with here!

Jaden Naville (Bloomington – 2029)

Naville is a 6'0” freshman point guard that has nice length and the lefty is quick off the dribble. Got to the foul line at a nice rate throughout the game as he had 8 points against West Aurora.
