Over the next few days, we'll highlight a number of standouts from Friday and Saturday's action in Stoughton, starting below with our first five standouts from Friday afternoon's action.

Lang, a forward out of the Brimmer & May School, impressed with his activity level on both ends of the floor. Lang quickly caught my eye with his length, as the 6'8" forward has a plus wingspace and does a nice job of utilizing it to his advantage on the defensive end of the floor. He's active around the rim as a shot-blocker and shows the ability to be disruptive in passing lanes. I thought he did a nice job of running the floor in transition, while also being an efficient finisher around the rim.

Moore, a guard out of Brewster Academy, showed off his athleticism and defensive versatility in a dominant win on Friday. One of the region's top perimeter defenders, Moore plays with a great combination of aggression, instincts, lateral mobility, and physicality. He keeps opponents away from scoring spots, makes plays on the ball that lead to turnovers, and is a strong rebounder. On the other end, his burst as a driver is noticeable, as are the strides he's made with his perimeter jumper.

Payne, a guard out of the Brimmer & May School, stood out with his quickness and playmaking instincts. A dynamic ball-handler, Payne repeatedly got wherever he wanted on the floor off the bounce. He changes speeds as a driver, has a deep finishing package around the rim, and can get into his perimeter jumper by creating space with the bounce. I also was impressed with his effort on the defensive end of the floor, where he played with great effort and intensity.

Pemberton, a guard out of Brewster Academy, continued to stand out with his offensive production and ability to raise the level of the play of those around him. Much has been made about his ability to score the basketball in recent months, but I thought he impressed on Friday with the well-roundedness of his game and his understanding of how much attention he attracts as a scorer. He does a great job of playing within the flow of the offense, while also showing proper instincts of when to hunt his own shot. Defensively, he teams with Moore and White (below), to make life miserable for opposing back-courts.

White, a guard out of Brewster Academy, impressed with his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands. This was my first in-person viewing of White and he didn't disappoint. His demeanor is beyond that of his age, as he plays with great confidence, pace, and poise. He's a crafty scorer that can get to his spots off the bounce, makes shots from behind the arc, and also delivers passes on time and on target to teammates in scoring situations. His energy is infectious and his commitment to the defensive end of the floor is also notable.
