Here are 3 thoughts on the Jaguars' win:

Towns is Southwind's best offensive player

Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1760995' first='Ronald' last='Towns III'] is the Jaguars' best offensive player. He's the go-to guy on most possessions as he's proven - since his arrival at Southwind - that he's capable of leading the team in scoring. Early in the first quarter against Fayette Ware, Towns scored 10 points before going to the bench for picking up 3 fouls. Towns missed the entirety of the second quarter and half of the third quarter before coming back in.

Towns quickly picked up where he left off, scoring timely baskets each time the Wildcats were threatening. Towns got a score in transition off a turnover that gave his team its biggest lead at the moment (56-47). He led Southwind with 19 points and went 3 for 4 from the free throw line.

Huge 3rd for Smith

The Jaguars needed senior big man Kris Smith in the third quarter. Southwind trailed 33-31 entering the second half and needed a boost with Towns on the bench with 3 fouls. Smith delivered with scores at the basket. At 6-foot-6, he had his way against the undersized Wildcats each time he was in scoring position on the block. Smith scored 8 of his 14 points in the third quarter, which helped the Jaguars take a 44-41 lead into the final 8 minutes.

Solid effort from Edwards

Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2842634' first='Justin' last='Edwards'] was another player Southwind got much-needed production from with Towns watching from the bench. He finished the night with 9 points, handled duties at point guard to relieve senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1591000' first='Monterrio' last='Cox'] Jr., and played solid defense. Edwards did what he needed to do to help the Jaguars come out victorious.

Fayette Ware will be fine

The Wildcats didn't back down from one of the better teams in Class 4A in West Tennessee. Fayette Ware is the best Class 3A team in West Tennessee at the moment and has the pieces to contend for a Class 3A state title. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='2805504' first='Cash' last='Williams'] finished the contest with 18 points. He's been a consistent contributor along with sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='2796643' first='Kylon' last='Terry'], who added 15 points. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2843156' first='Elijah' last=''] Lowe had one of the worst performances of his high school career thus far. He had bad turnovers throughout the game and a missed dunk in the second half when his team was trying to gain momentum. He's a better player than what was displayed Friday night, and it's not expected for him to go into a slump.

Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2886161' first='JaCorey' last='Stanley'] had great looks from 3 all night and only made one. That's not going to happen each night he steps onto the floor. Stanley is a reliable shotmaker.

The Wildcats are going to be fine with the core of Williams, Terry, Lowe, and Stanley moving forward.
