Just what everyone wanted fresh off his football commitment to Iowa -- an article featuring a basketball evaluation ofJaxx DeJean.

In all seriousness, one gets peaks and glimpses of DeJean's football athleticism when he's on the court. Though he's not a high-flying, shoot from anywhere past half-court player, DeJean's impact is felt on the court. A big, 6-foot-6 and 213-pound body that possesses a bit of a guard skillset, OABCIG looked much more fluid and active offensively with the future Hawkeye running the offense. Down double-digits in the third quarter, once DeJean began initiating the Falcon offense, OABCIG got right back in it, going on a double-digit run of their own to tie it at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

DeJean has soft touch around the rim, strength to create separation without fouling on offense, handles and vision to be trusted as a point forward, and his jumpshot isn't too bad, either.

One of two rare 6-foot-8 prospects between these two northwest Iowa squads, [player_tooltip player_id='2823320' first='Evan' last='Hoffman'] proved valuable for the Falcons on Friday night. Matching up with [player_tooltip player_id='3257818' first='Adam' last='Stephan'] -- who we'll discuss shortly -- in the paint, Hoffman provides a big presence that opposing offenses must account for when driving to the rim or trying to work through their post.

As a big offensively, Hoffman often provides a difficult mismatch for defenses to match up with. His soft touch and spatial awareness around the rim make him a difficult guard, especially considering his size.

A transfer from Ridge View part way through last season, Jensen faced his old team on Friday night. A quick guard/wing that could get to the basket and score at all three levels, Jensen is a shifty lefty that's tough to defend when given space. A scorer that can drive to the hoop, stop on a dime and a shot off, Jensen is one of the better scorers on the roster for the Falcons.

Like DeJean's ignition of the offense helped propel the Falcons to tie the game in the fourth, Jensen's shot-making and consistency on both ends got OABCIG back in it, as he scored on four-straight possessesions, forcing at least one turnover on defense, too.

A defender that gave OABCIG guards fits with fullcourt pressure the entire game, [player_tooltip player_id='2853883' first='Zach' last='Kolpin'] was engaged on both ends of the floor from tip till final horn. Poking away three steals from the Falcons, Kolpin took those turnovers and turned them into points, weaving his way to the basket and finishing with either hand. He also recognized the weak point in the OABCIG 3-2 defense, as he and the Raptors continued to attack the baseline and get to or around the rim with ease.

Once the Falcons tied it, Kolpin took over, nabbing those steals and killing any hopes OABCIG had of stealing the win despite such a hefty second-half deficit. One of the better guards in NW Iowa, Kolpin provides a difficult matchup on both sides of the floor.

The other 6-foot-8, big presence on the court on Friday night, Stephan was critical in a hot start for the Raptors. When the ball was tipped, the senior made everything difficult for the interior defense of the Falcons, scoring some of the first few points for Ridge View, and, at one point, making it look like the Raptors were going to run the Falcons out of the gym.

Grabbing two offensive rebounds for put-back layups, fighting off defenders for easy twos and even making a three, Stephan was a tough guard for the Falcons.

Adding to his presence on offense, Stephan -- along with guard, Carter Todd -- swatted away two shots in the paint by OABCIG, proving to be critical for Ridge View's winning efforts.
