There have been some great starts to this 2025-26 season but arguably one of the best has been from [player_tooltip player_id='2747483' first='Andrew' last='Haas']. The 6-foot-7 senior has been averaging a double-double so far, putting up some monster games that haven't been seen in Southeast Portland in quite some time. The results have been due to the work he put in he off-season on his game and his hope it will help him get noticed for an opportunity to play at the next level.

Haas kicked off the year with double doubles in all three games at the Wilsonville Invitational the opening weekend of the season and that's when we caught up with him, after Cleveland closed out the tournament with a win over Mountain View.

"It started off a little rough playing Parkrose, but I think we really picked it up the second and third game," Haas said. "A lot of my teammates stepped up to their roles and I think I have developed too throughout these games. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."

From there the results have continued. In fact, in Haas' most recent game in the third place win over Sprague at the Mountainside Tournament, it exploded as the big man some real eye-popping numbers in posting 39 points and 14 rebounds. It all goes back to the effort Haas put into his development this off-season both individually and running with the [program_tooltip program_id='2850997' first='Cascade' last='Kings'].

"Really I was just getting in the gym," Haas said. I think I put on 20, 25 pounds of mass. So that's it basically, playing a lot of AAU too, traveling and playing better competition."

Surprisingly the college recruiting interest has been light. Haas noted he's heard some from Linfield and Chemeketa but that's about it. He's hopeful things pick up as he'd like to be a part of a college program and one that's willing to invest in him.

"Just somewhere I can develop," Haas said. "Somewhere that can really put me in the best position to develop."

Other than that Haas is keeping things wide open. His focus is on the rest of the season, one where he and his teammates are aiming for big things. "One of our biggest goals is try to win PIL," Haas said.

Haas currently ranks as the #90 player in the Class of 2026 rankings.
