Mayhem on Military has become the mark of the beginning of the high school season in the DMV over the past few years. This year was no different as Marc Stern from Capitol Hoops put together a loaded schedule over the course of the weekend to prepare fans for the year ahead.

For this article, I'll highlight the wings and bigs stemming from PA and VA who caught my eye throughout the weekend.

Yet another standout, clean performance for the top-ranked 2028 prospect in VA on Saturday during Highland's win over Friendship Tech. For as talented of an offensive player as Carter is, what I liked most about his performance was his low-maintenance approach. He isn't going to dribble the air out of the ball in isos, jack up questionable shots, or break off the offensive set in a negative manner. Instead, he was an active cutter, put his head down and sprinted the lanes, and hovered around the perimeter finding open windows for catch-and-shoot opportunities as others penetrated. Carter scored 13 points on 4-of-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from deep while securing a handful of rebounds in the 57-45 victory.

Father Judge's game against PVI didn't have a ton of positives in the PCL program's favor considering the final score was 90-50 in favor of the Panthers, but getting a chance to see the talented underclassmen was a plus. Harris, a 6-foot-6 wing with plus length, fluidity, and outside shooting made the most of his nine minutes by knocking down two three's. After a productive summer that secured his top-10 placement in the PA 2028 class, Harris should look to become a key cog in the rotation for Father Judge, who will look to get back on track quickly after running into a buzzsaw in their first game of the season.

It was a quiet game for Ragland when you consider the high bar that he's set with his play this fall. The 6-foot-6 freshman still scored seven points in the event's opening matchup while impacting a multitude of other box score categories. Ragland is a physical, active forward with dependable hands as a roller or hanging out in the dunker's spot awaiting dump-offs. Similar to [player_tooltip player_id='2548181' first='Isaiah' last='Carter'], Ragland didn't force his attempts and instead, used his instincts as an off-ball mover to generate looks around the basket.

Brown is another young prospect on this Father Judge team that boasts a high ceiling. Now standing 6'4"-6'5" you can tell he's still adjusting to growing into his body and really learning how to use his length to impact the game in different ways. He's a fluid athlete and mover with some shifty tendencies and burst when operating in 1-on-1s. He showed in the game against PVI that he's capable of knocking down shots off the catch and while a game of that magnitude is probably still a bit fast for him at this point, the instincts and feel surfaced in spurts. Brown should be considered as one of the top long-term prospects in the PCL.
