The KP Classic was very competitive as the largest margin of victory was in the consolation game by 10 points, with Medfield beating KP 74-64. The championship went down to wire as Lincoln-Sudbury won 78-77 over South High Community out of Worcester. On Day 1, Game 1 featured the hosts King Philip and South High, with South winning 52-51 with a game sealing block by Kymoni Bodden. Game 2 featured Lincoln-Sudbury beating Medfield 53-51, making a LS vs South Championship game that put a cherry on top of this coin flip of a tournament. All the teams have intriguing players that shined at some point but below are my All Tourney Team and then Honorable Mentions, but like I said each team has players that helped compete at a high level. His improvements from last year include his handles, strength and ability to defend. Dribbling the ball and footwork combination include a few different moves that allow him to get looks at high percentage shots. He finishes at an above average rate around the rim. He is relentless on the glass averaging 10.5 boards for the tournament, with multiple offensive put backs. He is super athletic and excited to see him next year as well. He contests shots well with his quickness to on ball defense and close outs. He is a D1 baseball commit but if he chose basketball he could play D3 now with a high upside at D2 level.

All-Tourney Team

His coach was telling me to watch him and he didn't disappoint. Every time he shoots it looks amazing. He gets shots off within tight spaces because of his high release and explosion off the jump. He can get the ball off quickly but appears to be methodical. He works very hard to get open and if he isn't, he draws a ton of attention allowing for others to excel. Scores well from deep even college range. His takes to the hoop are strong so he can take his guy off the bounce getting paint touches. I liked how he tags players on defense and had an incredible transition assist. A D3 college player if he wants, depending on his next two years, potential as a D2 player.

He can be the true point guard on his team but can play off the ball as well. Has good handles using both hands with balance when knocked off his spots. His dribble drive penetration is key for his team as he draws fouls and racks up the assists. Clearly a Top 2 scorer on this Medfield team that can finish from anywhere on the court and in multiple ways. He should be a kid to watch out for as the season continues in MIAA. He could be a kid that could carry his team on his back in D3 playoffs. A projected D3 basketball player if he chooses.

A dual sport player on the football field as well. He is athletically and physically put together. He can score from anywhere on the floor. He rebounds exceptionally well, timing his jumps and anticipation off the rim. He can be the point guard to take pressure off the main ball handlers. He plays unselflishly and creates problems on the defensive end. Most likely he ends up playing college football but what a player to have as Lincoln-Sudbury tries to make noise this season.

Defensively he is quick laterally getting his hands on passes with his close outs and hand eye coordination. He gets a lot of paint touches off his dribble drawing fouls along the way. He times his drives accurately off the catch. Ability to take the ball coast to coast when he wants. He is such a good facilitator. Garnet can score from anywhere on the court. He could play D3 now or do a prep year somewhere and be good addition next year for any team.

Honorable Mentions

He really settled in the first game as the game continued getting into the "athlete flow". He has a variety of handles, getting plenty of paint touches. Shot the ball well from deep and from all angles in Game 1 of this tournament even after bad passes. Lucas is only a freshman but I would love to witness his progression in the next few years. College coaches he is on track for easily playing D3 but upside to play at the D2 level, maybe even low to mid-major D1. He is not just a scorer but made a handful of assists and can rebound.

He is a dual sport athlete on the football field as well, telling me he enjoys both. College coaches at D3 level if you get this kid now could be a steal for your program. Has decent hangtime on drives to the rim. Can score from all areas on the court. He is disruptive on defense, which could be attributed to his football skills, ball hawking and instincts. A player that knows his role on the court but next year should be a star for Lincoln-Sudbury.

He excels at the mid-range game but can stretch the floor once in a while. He is smart, timing his drives by probing and decision making to make the extra pass playing for higher percentage shots. He changes his pace of dribble up. He will be a captain on this Medfield team next year. He is a top contributor and can be the Alpha in the scoring department. If he chooses basketball in college could play at the D3 level.
