JV Roundtable | New Faces and Standouts

The IHSAA Season in full swing. Varsity and JV teams competing every night of the week with new faces and standouts in every game. This article highlights some new faces along with standouts during the JV games from the first part of the season:    Poised combo guard that's comfortable playing on or off the ball. At 6'1” and just a freshman, he possesses good length and has the ability to make any pass on the floor. Off the ball, he does a good job moving and cutting off screens getting open. Really good shooter off the catch with a quick trigger and deep range.     Smooth offensive minded wing that has a lot to his bag. Capable of playing multiple spots on the floor, McGee is a confident scorer that loves to get downhill. He uses a his length really well to finish over size. He's an aggressive, versatile defender that uses length to play the passing lanes looking to turn defense into offense.     Crafty lead guard that has a knack for making plays. Explosive first step that allows him to get past his defender where he's a good decision maker in the paint with the ability to see all over the floor. He's a crafty finisher around the basket with the ability to score with either hand. Hard nosed defender that pressures the ball and moves his feet well staying out of foul trouble.     Heady lead guard that oozes with confidence. Affects the game on both ends of the floor with his high IQ and leadership. Smooth guard on the offensive end that does a good job balancing scoring opportunities for himself and creating open looks and distributing. Not the quickest player, but uses a change of speed really well to get to his spots in the lane where he can score with a soft touch or showcase his court vision creating open looks for teammates.     [player_tooltip player_id='3177230' first='Brandon' last='Buse'] is a hard left handed driver that uses his body to play through contact and finishes efficiently around the basket. Shown flashes of being a creator on the perimeter, he's most comfortable playing fifteen feet and in where he can size up his matchup and make a play for himself, or he showed he's able to drive and dish to open teammates. Runs the floor extremely well for a young big man that I can see eventually turning into a wing. Hes a good rebounder that showed he can push in transition. He's a versatile opportunistic defender that can guard all over the floor while staying out of foul trouble.     An athletic, physical guard with a lot of natural ability. Capable of playing on or off the ball. Aggressive downhill driver that plays on balance and plays through contact well. Capable three-point shooter off the catch that can get hot in a hurry. Versatile defender that uses his strength to his advantage when guarding bigger players.     An energetic lead guard that makes things happen on both sides of the floor. He's a one man press breaker with his quickness and ball handling ability. So dynamic in the open floor looking to get downhill and finish at the basket. Confident in the pick and roll where he turns the corner and makes good decisions on when to attack and when to dump it off to the roll man. Capable shooter from the outside that takes tough shots from time to time but is always aggressive on the offensive end. He's a pesky defender that pressures full court making it tough on the opposition every possession.
