Skilled playmakers and elite competitors take over   The Jack Frost Invitational once again proved to be a stage where high-level guards separate themselves. This year's group featured athletes who controlled pace, created offense, defended multiple positions, and displayed the basketball IQ you expect from next-level prospects. Here are the backcourt standouts who made their presence felt.    Olajuwon continues to validate the rise in his stock with a complete and polished guard game. At 6'5, he operates with the poise of a veteran, running offense, manipulating pace, and attacking when angles present themselves. His mid-range touch is smooth, his finishing package is strong, and the perimeter shot has reached a level of consistency that demands defensive respect. What stands out most is his patience. He never looks sped up, but when he sees daylight, he attacks decisively. Defensively, he's versatile enough to pick up smaller guards 94 feet or battle with bigger wings in the paint. Olajuwon is the heartbeat of Episcopal, and his trajectory this season suggests he's nowhere close to finished.     Rodriguez is a mature, steady senior guard who can quarterback a team or slide off the ball and score with efficiency. His jumper is pure both from mid-range and behind the arc, and he uses ball screens well to get downhill or force defenders into difficult pick-your-poison decisions. He's a very smart defender. He understands angles, anticipates action, and consistently generates deflections and steals. Rodriguez also rebounds well for his position and shows strong on-court composure, even in pressure moments. He's a leader who raises the floor of any lineup he's in. One of the top guards in the state.     Jacob is a straight-up sniper, one of the most dangerous shooters at the event. He's elite off the catch, effective off the bounce, and simply cannot be left unattended. His commitment to moving without the ball creates constant problems for defenses, opening passing windows for teammates and rhythm shots for himself. Because his jumper commands so much gravity, Jacob's dribble-drive game has expanded, allowing him to attack closeouts and finish at the rim. Defensively, he positions well, rotates with discipline, and rebounds. His shooting alone makes him a valuable next-level prospect, and it will be a major weapon for Lake Travis down the stretch.     Majors is built like a linebacker and shoots like a specialist — a rare and highly effective combination. His physicality allows him to create space on demand, whether he's attacking downhill or rising up for his accurate jumper. His handle is deceptively sharp, and he's adept at getting to his scoring pockets anywhere on the floor. Defensively, that same strength becomes a weapon. Majors takes on bigger wings without hesitation and makes life difficult for smaller guards who can't match his physicality. As part of a seasoned Guyer squad, he delivers shot-making, toughness, and winning intangibles that will matter in big moments.     Fleming is the definition of a true point guard, a coach on the floor who organizes, anticipates, and controls tempo. His defensive intensity sets the tone for Coppell, as he pressures the ball, navigates screens, and disrupts rhythm without gambling. Offensively, he sees the floor exceptionally well, understands passing angles, and delivers teammates into scoring spots. And while he's a pass-first guard by nature, he can get his own bucket at any time. Fleming is powerful to the rim, shoots it well enough to keep defenses honest, and is at his best pushing transition, turning stops into quick points with sharp decisions or strong finishes. He's an aggressive, competitive guard who will add immediate value to the right college program.
