Heritage vs Foothill Palo Cedro Don Nelson Classic

Heritage vs Foothill Palo Cedro was the third of three games PH NorCal was in attendance for at the Don Nelson Classic. Heritage 5-4 from the Bay Valley League ran away from Foothill Palo Cedo of the Eastern League 6-6 by a score of 99-62.    He's made progress as a post player. He gives passers a target on the low block, using jump hooks and paint jumpers. He'll score in traffic if he turns, balances himself before going up. He's making good passes from the high and low post. He's hustling up and down the court with good strides. He has the length to rebound and effect shots in the post.     A newcomer. He's 6'5 with skills for the post. He showed footwork, he can hit the short corner, and paint jumpers. He'll use a couple of dribbles working the baseline and high post to get to the rim. He's hard to guard on the low block when he balances himself. He'll pass and screen around the high post area. He rebounds, can block and distract shooters in the paint.     Walker got hot knocking down 3-pointers from different spots. During one stretch he knocked down to back to back 3ptrs with a third just missing. He has a good release, can hit the mid-range from different spots. He has decent ball handling skills, with a quick crossover, a willing passer. He put up shots within the flow.     A combo guard fast with good ball handling and passing into the post, and around the perimeter. He showed he can get into the paint for floaters, and paint jumpers. Standing around 5'10, he can sneak in get rebounds, then use speed pushing, and passing in transition.         A good on ball defender, his long arms, quick feet, and stabbing at the ball can be disruptive to ball handlers bringing it up court. He has lateral movement making it hard to beat him off the dribble. He can handle, has a first step, has shown he can drop a 3-pointer.     It was our first look at the players from Palo Cedro. Cochran can knock down 3's early and often if not accounted for. He hit 3's spotting up in the corners with a quick release. He used screens up top free himself up. He can hit the pull up off the mid-range, and hustle to fill lanes for transition layups. He keeps his dribble live. Watch List. 10pts per game.     A good size guard with a solid body. He's the teams leading scorer in the early season with 24.2. He didn't play his is best the game we saw but, there's some tools to work with. He had strong drive spin moves to finish at the rim. He has the handles to get his shot off behind the 3-point line. He's a rebounding guard, can defend multiple positions. Watch List
