On Tuesday, December 9th I took a trip to Centennial. The Coyotes hosted a big and athletic 6A team the Apollo Hawks. A cross conference matchup between a top 5 5A team and a top 20 6A team. The game was wire to wire until the forth quarter when the coyotes took off. The game was filled with highlight dunks, blocks and nasty crossovers. Here are my stand outs on the night.

Johnny put on a point guard master class. He showcased his ability to control the pace of a game. He is a constant communicator to his teammates and true extension of his coach. He calls out defenses and offenses for his squad and leads by example. Johnny balanced his scoring and passing the whole night. He scored from all 3 levels with high efficiency. He set up his teammates with easy buckets and open shots. Johnny plays great on ball defense and and had 4 steals as well as 7 assist, 5 rebounds and 17 points.

A good size wing with a smooth stroke from the outside. Romell plays real calm and does not allow defense to speed him up. His quick trigger from the three makes it hard for defense to close out and contest. He hit four threes on the night. He has a good handle and is a good team player always willing to make the extra pass. He plays solid defense and is not afraid of any matchup and often guards bigger players. Romell finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds.

Aidan is a a super athletic guard with a nice jump shot. Aidan is a above the rim player with quick twitch bounce that allow him to get nasty dunks and blocks. With his jumping ability he has a real nice midrange pull up with big time rise to it. He has a shifty handle and often gets defenders leaning. Defensively he has really good hands and reads passing lanes. Aidan is a great rebounder for his size as he pulled down 8 rebounds as well as 16 points, 3 assist and 1 steal.

Sekou is a very athletic and brings constant energy to the court. His aggressiveness on the defensive end puts pressure on the offense and forces turnover's. He has next level athleticism and good length that allows him to be a pest on that end. He has great timing on his weak side blocks and will send the ball to the stands. He is a very solid finisher at the rim and can get down hill with ease. He gets to the line often and hits his free throws. Sekou had 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Elijah is a good size wing with a knack for scoring. Elijah proved he can score from all three levels of the court. He made some nice moves in the mid range with fadeaways and pullups. He was able to get down hill and finish strong at the rim and use quick dribble moves to create separation. Elijah put his range on display and hit a couple threes from deep and had three on the night. Defensively he held the opposing team best player and took the challenge. He had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assist and 2 blocks.

A super quick point guard that can score. Izaiah is super shifty with a quick first step that creates a lot of space with his dribble moves. He has a nice step back from 3 that creates a lot of space and hits it at a solid rate. His ability to drives gives opportunities to shooters in the corner. Izaiah creates a lot of shots for himself despite his size. He plays solid defense and has solid hands. He is a high IQ player that plays the game the right way.
