On Thursday, December 11th I attended the match-up of 3A Seton Catholic Sentinels kind of hosting the 3A Ben Franklin Chargers. Seton Catholic parking lot and gym are under construction and there is no parking so all of their games are actually at Chandler Prep's gym. So they technically have zero home games this season.

The two teams are both top-5 teams in 3A and both teams can make deep playoff runs.

I checked out the JV and Varsity games.

Here were the standouts

Junior Varsity Game (48-35 Seton Catholic won)

[player_tooltip player_id='3216531' first='Gavin' last='Coatney'] Seton Catholic

A scoring point guard will drive and kick it to a shooter and has a good pace to the game. He has a deceptively quick burst to a get downhill and he can hit the three off the catch. He has confidence and upside to play on varsity next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='3216550' first='Milo' last='De La Torre'] Seton Catholic

A very long and lean scoring guard. He has long arms to gain deflections and collect steals and he can score it. He has an unorthodox three point release but will knock it down. He can handle the ball fairly well and will make a play for a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='3216434' first='Owen' last='Sang'] Ben Franklin

A long face-up wing forward who can play the 3-4 for his team. He is long to collect steals with his size and length and will even block shots. He can score it inside plus step out and shoot the three. The younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id='2883785' first='Ethan' last='Sang'] is just scratching the surface.

[player_tooltip player_id='3216505' first='Noah' last='Gligoric'] Ben Franklin

A super shifty undersized point guard who can get downhill. He works off of a ball screen and can split defenders with a burst using his tighter handle and has a nice floater game. He loves the spin move into a layup and can get to the free throw line.

Varsity Game (69-59 Pusch Ridge won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2249646' first='Talan' last='Speir'] Ben Franklin

A combo guard is a good defender and rebounder. He will score with reverse layups, sharp crossovers into a layup with his burst of speed, offensive rebound put backs, euro steps and transition buckets. He is a good passer threading the needle and a plus rebounder for his size and position. He scored 13 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2533653' first='Bennett' last='Christensen'] Ben Franklin

A scoring point guard has advanced pace for his age. He threaded the needle multiple times with drive and kicks and will finds teammate in stride. He will score it a variety of ways with polished mid-range pull-ups off the dribble, tear drops in the lane, bursts to the basket and offensive rebound put backs. He has that calming feeling with the ball in his hands and scored 24 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2883785' first='Ethan' last='Sang'] Ben Franklin

A long wing forward takes long strides to the basket to score or get to the free throw line. He will score with offensive rebound put backs and often earn trips to the free throw line. His length on defense make it hard to score on him on the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2333014' first='Brody' last='Hansen'] Ben Franklin

A wing forward plays very hard with a huge motor to compete. He is very aggressive to rebound and fight for position. He will score it thru the contact with and-1's and he made some tough shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='3217638' first='Nate' last='Lot'] and [player_tooltip player_id='3217668' first='Nolan' last='Lot'] Ben Franklin

The twin brothers took turns trying to slow down stud guard Fauske. They both are quick on-ball defenders and will score it with downhill bursts with a tear drop and hit the open three. They move the ball like you should and play team basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2275986' first='KJ' last='Fauske'] Seton Catholic

One of the top shooters in 3A and all of the AIA is their go-to player. He is heavily guarded the entirety of the game yet still pumps in points with euro's, and-1 floaters, transition layups, runners, jab step and pull-up threes with a lightning quick shooting release. He is a good passer in traffic as the game has slowed down for him and is rebounding the ball better as he boxes his man out well. He scored 23 points with four 3's.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674718' first='Ashton' last='Ries'] Seton Catholic

One of their tough inside players on the team plays the game bigger then his size suggests. He plays the game with a huge motor to bang inside and score with offensive rebound put backs and takes contact well. He will also dribble drive to the basket and scored 8 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3148393' first='Henry' last='Miller'] Seton Catholic

The freshmen combo guard with big confidence. He can handle it a little and score it with downhill takes with either hand and he gets to the free throw line. He can defend a couple positions and he has a bright future.
