Now with the season underway and my state championship predictions posted, here I wanted to check out who could be some underdog teams to keep an eye on as the season gets underway.

3A State Title Prediction: https://prephoops.com/2025/11/devins-state-title-predictions-class-3a/

Seattle Academy - Record Last Year: 9-13 - Did not make state

Seattle Academy brings back a few solid pieces in [player_tooltip player_id='2962781' first='Jaden' last='Arriaga'], a guard who shoots the lights out of the gym. He plays fundamental, playing off 2 feet and always making the extra pass. Charlie Constable, a 6'9” big down low will also be back. The biggest addition is 2028 graduate, Zane Zillax, who is a dynamic wing who scores from all 3 levels and is already gaining D1 recruiting traction.

Kennewick - Record Last Year: 16-7 - Did not make state

Kennewick is another team that didn't make state last year but I believe could make some noice this season. [player_tooltip player_id='2510524' first='Daniel' last='Trotenya'] is a 6'4” wing who jumps out of the gym but has been getting a well rounded offensive game and able to get buckets at a high level. He scores well around the rim, finishing through contact and hitting mid-range shots when he needs. [player_tooltip player_id='2624933' first='Cooper' last='Larson'] is a big down low who has a high motor and rebounds really well. He's physical down low and knows how to use his size to his advantage.

Lincoln - Record Last Year: 25-7 - Lost in Quarterfinals

With everyone returning to a team that surprised a lot of people last season, they again should really be a team to keep an eye on. With only 2 current seniors, they are still a young group but they are extremely talented. [player_tooltip player_id='2625619' first='Davion' last='Shareef-Dulaney'] is a top prospect in the entire state, especially within the 2028 class. He can score at will, using his dribble to get to his spots with ease and get buckets.
