When Regents and Veritas meet, it's always competitive, but this preseason battle belonged to the young talent, and Regents ultimately pulled out a hard-fought win. Underclassmen from both rosters showed advanced feel, confident shot-making, and the ability to impact the game on both ends.    Clark continues to look like one of the more polished young guards in Austin. The lefty carries himself like a seasoned combo guard comfortable initiating offense, playing out of quick footwork and non-dribble moves, and scoring from all three levels. He's added noticeable strength, which now allows him to absorb contact at the rim and defend with more physicality on the perimeter. His mid-range game is reliable, his three-ball is improving, and he rebounds well for his size. Clark was the Knights' high scorer in this preseason win, and with reps like this, he's positioning himself to be a major problem once district play begins.     Srygley plays like he's been launched straight out of a cannon, and it all starts on the defensive end. He applies relentless ball pressure, disrupts passing lanes, dives on the floor for loose balls, and injects life into every possession. He's the pulse of this Regents squad, an energy giver who raises the floor for everyone around him. Offensively, he attacks the rim without hesitation, embraces contact, and has a steady mid-range jumper while continuing to grow his perimeter shooting. Leadership isn't always vocal; sometimes it's tempo and toughness. Srygley brings both in full supply.     Wheland is the kind of player every coach wants: tough, selfless, and willing to do the dirty work that rarely shows up on a stat sheet. He guards multiple positions, competes on the glass, and is the first to hit the floor for a loose ball. But there's more to his game than grit. Wheland owns a soft shooting touch, can finish through contact, and is steadily adding polish to his offensive toolkit. Once everything clicks, he has the upside to be one of the most impactful two-way players in the district. Expect him to surprise some people this season.     Jarrett may be young, but he doesn't shy away from physicality. He battles for position on both ends of the floor, rebounds with purpose, and shows a willingness to mix it up in traffic. His back-to-the-basket game is developing, yet he already finishes strong around the rim and can step out to hit the occasional three. Defensively, he moves his feet well, contests shots, and shows early signs of being a versatile presence. Starting as a freshman at the varsity level is no small task, but Jarrett is handling it with maturity, and Veritas will reap the benefits all season long.     Clark has a special ability to beat that first defender off the bounce and get downhill, where he shows impressive craft with his finishing package and mid-range pull-up. His handle is tight, his three-ball is growing, and he brings a defensive presence marked by high hands, quick reactions, and a nose for loose balls. What stands out most is his urgency; he plays every possession like it matters, which gives Veritas a valuable spark.
